CNN analyst reports that Harris is facing challenges with young voter support, despite Taylor Swift's endorsement.
Among voters under 30, Trump trails Harris by 10 percentage points.
On Thursday, CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten stated that Kamala Harris is still facing challenges in winning over young voters. He added that Taylor Swift's recent endorsement was "absolutely welcome" by the Harris campaign.
According to Enten, in July 2020, President Biden had a 28-point advantage among voters under 30. However, this advantage fell to seven points in July of this year, just before he exited the race. As the Democratic nominee, Harris improved on Biden's standing with the critical voting bloc, reaching a 15-point advantage this month. Despite this, she is still significantly behind Biden's 2020 numbers, Enten noted.
According to the source, Kamala Harris will welcome Taylor Swift's support if she can sway young voters, as she is not performing as well among this demographic as expected for a Democrat.
The pop icon, who has been an outspoken critic of former President Trump, endorsed Harris after the presidential debate on Tuesday. In an Instagram post signed "childless cat lady," she praised Harris for fighting for the rights and causes she believes need a warrior to champion them.
Swift's ability to persuade fans to register to vote could significantly boost the campaign, as Harris faces a roadblock in Pennsylvania and North Carolina due to a decline in new registered Democrats from 2020.
According to Enten, over the past four years, Republicans have been more successful in registering voters than Democrats.
NBC News reported that the link attached to Swift's endorsement urging people to register to vote was visited 337,826 times in just two days.
In her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, the pop icon urged her fans to register to vote in the 2024 presidential election, emphasizing the importance of their participation.
In November, the top concerns for young voters nationwide are the economy, immigration, and foreign policy, according to recent surveys by Planet Chronicle Digital.
A recent survey by the New York Times and Siena College shows that Harris is leading Trump by 10 percentage points among young voters aged 18-29.
