Biden's Oval Office address criticized by Trump as 'terrible' after 2024 presidential campaign exit: 'It was a coup'
On Thursday, Trump spoke exclusively with 'Fox & Friends' after Biden's Oval Office address.
President Biden's Oval Office address on his exit from the 2024 presidential race was criticized by former President Donald Trump as a "terrible" speech, with Trump accusing Democrats of staging a coup against the president.
Trump responded to Biden's comments on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday, stating that he had not provided clear answers about the sudden termination of his presidential campaign.
"Trump stated that he believes the election was a coup, as those in power did not want him to win. He was far behind in the polls and thought he was going to lose. They went to him and told him he couldn't win unless he did something foolish, which he wasn't going to do. The debate, according to Trump, started everything."
"I also know many individuals on the opposite side who went and forced him out, as seen on television between Pelosi, Obama, and others. It was fascinating to observe how they acted so cordially on screen, saying, "Oh, yes, we loved you. We loved you behind the scenes." However, I can confirm that they were ruthless."
On Wednesday, Biden spoke to the nation for the first time since announcing his decision not to run for president in 2024. He emphasized the need for a new generation to lead and endorsed Vice President Harris's bid for the Democratic Party's nomination.
Biden stated that the best way to unite the nation is by passing the torch to a new generation. He emphasized that there is a time and place for both long years of experience and new voices, and now is the time for the latter.
The president's speech, which lasted approximately 11 minutes, took place in the Oval Office with him seated at the Resolute desk. During his speech, he highlighted his years of experience in politics and his decision to step down. Several members of his family were present, including first lady Jill Biden, daughter Ashley Biden, son Hunter Biden, and others.
"Trump stated, "The speech and delivery were both terrible, and he appeared to be struggling. Despite this, other networks portrayed him as if he were Ronald Reagan or Winston Churchill in their prime, which was not accurate. The speech was not good.""
""The press is so fake and it's evident that there was a problem," he stated."
Biden declared his withdrawal from the presidential race on an X post while in self-isolation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, following a COVID-19 diagnosis last Wednesday. Despite experiencing "mild symptoms" and "general malaise," he received a negative diagnosis on Tuesday this week and returned to the White House.
On Tuesday, Biden made his first public appearance since suspending his re-election campaign and since being diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 17.
"I knew there was a palace coup going on, and I assumed that she'd probably be getting it," Trump said of Harris. "She had the advantage."
