Biden's DNC speech praised by Klobuchar and Psaki: "He is a hero who saved democracy"
On Monday night, the Democratic National Convention will feature a speech by Biden.
MSNBC host Jen Psaki and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., expressed their excitement for President Biden's upcoming speech at the Democratic National Convention, anticipating a crowd full of "tears of joy" for the leader who has been praised for "saving Democracy."
On Sunday, Klobuchar appeared on MSNBC's "Inside with Jen Psaki" to discuss the upcoming convention, where Biden will deliver an address on Monday night. This will be Biden's first public appearance since suspending his campaign and endorsing Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee less than a month ago.
Psaki, a former White House press secretary in the Biden administration, stated that the convention will emphasize both Kamala Harris as the top candidate and honoring Joe Biden's dedication to public service.
Psaki appeared to fight back tears as Klobuchar said, "everyone is just going to want to give him a big hug."
"Joe Biden will receive a lot of love and there will be tears of joy when he enters the hall. The focus of his presidency will be on democracy, as he saved it in the US by defeating Donald Trump. He will emphasize the importance of democracy in his speeches."
"Psaki stated that there would be a lot of hugging as staff and alumni were arriving."
During an MSNBC appearance on Saturday, Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell praised Biden, stating that he deserves a place on the Democratic Mount Rushmore.
"This president's legacy will be roads he built, chips he manufactured, and jobs he created for our kids," he stated.
Earlier this month, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi proposed that Biden could be added to Mount Rushmore after suspending his campaign.
Biden's speech will kick off the four-day convention to officially nominate Harris as the Democratic Party's top candidate for the 2020 presidential election. Despite reports that he is still bitter towards the top Democrats who ended his 2024 presidential campaign, the party is planning a grand celebration to honor Biden at the convention.
On Monday night, Biden will deliver his address, following Hillary Clinton and other speakers. On Tuesday, Obama will headline, while Bill Clinton will follow on Wednesday. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will take the stage on Thursday, completing the transition.
