As church attendance declines among young women in America, worries about the future of religion intensify, a report reveals.

AOL.com reported that researcher Sheila Wray Gregoire questioned the desire to be in a location where one's voice is unimportant, stating, "Why would you want to be at a place where your voice doesn’t matter?"

As church attendance declines among young women in America, worries about the future of religion intensify, a report reveals.

A report indicates that churches are experiencing a significant decrease in female attendance, as women are leaving in large numbers.

According to AOL.com, Mojica Rodríguez, a woman raised attending church frequently, stated that she is less likely to be involved with churches that do not allow her to speak up or be intelligent.

Rodriguez, 39, obtained a master's degree in divinity but later left the church due to its views on women.

"It feels like we're the church's mules," she continued.

Numerous research findings in AOL.com's article suggest a decrease in church attendance and detachment from religious affiliation.

According to the Survey Center on American Life, Gen Z is more concerned about the church's views on women than previous generations, as the church maintains the belief that women cannot serve in leadership roles.

Some people are unhappy with gender hierarchies, the lack of women in influential positions, and the expectations of chastity for girls, while others struggle with their church's views on reproductive and LGBTQ rights, as reported by AOL.com.

In April, the American Enterprise Institute reported that women are more likely to leave their religion than men among young adults across four generations, with 54% of Gen Z women leaving their religion compared to 46% of men.

The percentage of Americans who identify as Christian has decreased by 27% over the past three decades, according to the Pew Research Center.

A recent Gallup poll revealed that only 30% of U.S. adults now attend church regularly, which is a significant decrease from 20 years ago when 42% of adults would still attend church on a regular basis.

In the last decade, the number of people dropping off from regular church attendance increased significantly. While attendance was around 38% between 2011 and 2013, it has now decreased to 30%.

Nearly all faiths in the United States are experiencing a decline, as noted by Gallup.

The departure of women from the church could have severe repercussions, as they constitute the largest group of churchgoers, according to former evangelist Sheila Wray Gregoire. Women are also known to participate in church volunteer activities and encourage their families to be involved in the church.

According to Gregoire, the church wouldn't endure without women. After studying Christian marriage in the U.S. and Canada for 17 years, she added that women are "the ones who ensure children attend church."

"Gregoire stated that women are responsible for most of the work that keeps the church functioning," said Gregoire.

"Women are the ones who run Sunday school, organize potlucks, and provide support to those who are sick or having a baby. Without them, the church will not survive."

Young women leaving the church are driven by cultural dissonance, according to Daniel A. Cox, director of the Survey Center on American Life.

Young women are told they can achieve anything, but when it comes to our place of worship, there are restrictions, Cox stated.

He stated that these places are facing another challenge.

Researchers are reporting that as women leave the church, they prioritize career goals and delay marriage and parenthood, according to AOL.com.

"What's the point of being in a place where your voice is insignificant?" Gregoire questioned.

Having a deep, personal faith and then being treated as less than by the church can feel like having the rug pulled out from under you.
