Anti-Israel mob attacked reporter, causing physical harm and taking his notebook.
In Union Square, an anti-Israel protest was covered by Olivia Reingold, who later filed a police report.
Earlier this week in New York City, a journalist was harassed by an anti-Israel mob while covering a protest. She claims to have been hit and shoved, prompting her to file a police report.
On Wednesday, Olivia Reingold, a Free Press reporter, was surrounded by anti-Israel protesters who impeded her movement and labeled her a "genocide supporter."
After a man in a Hezbollah headscarf yelled "She’s a Zionist. Zionist scum!" and pointed at her, the incident that Reingold wrote about on social media occurred.
""America Reports" reported that the entire rally was centered around Reingold. People were chanting his name, instead of the usual "Israel, go to hell." His notebook was violently taken from him, torn apart, and thrown into the air."
The NYC protest was sparked by the "massacre" in central Gaza over the weekend, where the Israeli Defense Forces rescued four hostages but reportedly killed more than 200 Palestinians, according to the Associated Press.
"Reingold stated that these protesters assert they are against war and for peace, but they justify the violence of Hamas in a creative manner by rebranding it as resistance."
Police did not intervene when a Free Press reporter was shoved and pushed by protesters and even tried to dissuade her from filing a police report.
An unknown female was reported for harassment after following and shouting at Reingold, according to a police report filed by the NYPD's Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information. The spokesperson stated that Reingold did not sustain any injuries.
The group of protesters against Israel made their way to the "October 7th 06:29 AM—The Moment Music Stood Still" exhibition in Lower Manhattan, which honors the victims of the Nova Music Festival.
On Oct. 7, Israeli authorities reported that over 1,200 people were killed and 250 were taken hostage in Israel following a surprise attack by Hamas militants.
Eilat Tibi, a survivor of the Nova Music Festival, recounted to Planet Chronicle that she heard individuals shouting for "‘kill Israel, kill me, kill my friends, kill my country."
Tibi added, "This is violent and not our way."
Tal Shimony, another survivor of the Re’im massacre, stated that the presence of a large group of anti-Israel protesters made her feel as though she was reliving October 7th.
The protesters in NYC, who were waving Hamas and Hezbollah flags and had banners reading "Long Live Oct. 7," were condemned by Mayor Eric Adams.
One person yelled that they wished Hitler was still here to wipe out everyone, according to Adams.
The mayor condemned the "reprehensible and vile comments" in a video posted to X, formerly Twitter. He stood united against them, as did every New Yorker who supports peace. The mayor has a history of speaking up for what's right, and he made it clear that what he saw last night was wrong.
