After the interview between Trump and Musk, X experiences a meltdown and the space industry crashes.
X was accused by Musk of causing the crash through a 'DDOS attack'.
Elon Musk's interview with former President Trump was met with criticism due to the technical difficulties that arose.
A large number of users quickly signed up for Trump's "Space" event, which was intended to feature a discussion with a prominent tech billionaire about the 2024 presidential race. Unfortunately, the platform experienced a sudden surge in traffic and crashed, displaying the message "This Space is currently unavailable."
X was hit with a massive DDOS attack, and Musk announced it to users. He stated that he was working on shutting it down and that the worst-case scenario would be to proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and post the conversation later.
Musk followed by stating that they would proceed with a smaller number of concurrent listeners at 8:30 ET and post the unedited audio immediately after.
The conversation relaunched and at least 1 million X users joined after 40 minutes.
Critics reacted to the viral controversy.
Saagar Enjeti wrote on Breaking Points that Trump was furious at the NABJ due to technical difficulties that made him wait for 30 minutes. Now, he is waiting again, and the coverage will likely focus on the technical meltdown, regardless of what he says. He will not be pleased.
When asked about Musk's earlier promise of "Entertainment guaranteed!", New York Times reporter Jonathan Swan responded with "I’ll take functionality guaranteed!"
After being banned from Twitter in 2021 following the January 6 riot, Trump's interview was scheduled to mark his grand return to the platform. However, following Musk's acquisition of Twitter and subsequent renaming of the company to X, Trump's account was reinstated.
