Winona Ryder claims an A-list actor turned her down for a kiss during an audition due to her age.
In 1994, Ryder tried out for the role in the film 'The Hudsucker Proxy'.
Winona Ryder has been the love interest of several leading men in Hollywood, including Keanu Reeves, Adam Sandler, and Christian Bale.
An A-list actor had initially rejected the possibility of an on-screen romance with Ryder due to her age.
Since her teenage years, Ryder has been asked about auditioning for movies she has been linked to, including "Jerry McGuire," "Fight Club," and "The Hudsucker Proxy," directed by the Coen brothers.
Ryder remembered the movie "A 1990s screwball comedy" that featured Tim Robbins and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Ryder auditioned multiple times, as he recalled on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast with Josh Horowitz.
"I was eager to collaborate with the Coen brothers. Everyone admires them, as I do."
"I recall the audition for 'Fearless' with Jeff Bridges, which I also participated in. It was approximately the same time, I believe. Jeff Bridges, whom I admire greatly, refused to kiss me because I was too young."
In 1994, when the film was released, Ryder was approximately 21 years old, while Bridges was around 43 during auditions.
He was supposed to kiss me at the end of the scene, as stated by Ryder.
Bridges told her, "You're like my daughter's age," as stated by the star.
"And I was like, ‘Nooo,'" she recalled.

Despite not being cast in the movie, Ryder redirected herself back to the Coen brothers audition and finished that story.
She remembered how she had to leave the set while doing "The Age of Innocence" because her final callback occurred while she was wearing a corset.
She was running late and still in costume when Ryder felt "so discombobulated" that she "completely blew" the audition.
This Friday, "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" will hit theaters, marking Ryder's upcoming film. Meanwhile, the final season of "Stranger Things" on Netflix will be streamed next year.
