'Wheel of Fortune' viewers express disapproval over the 'repulsive' updates to the game show's appearance.
For season 42, Pat Sajak was replaced by Ryan Seacrest as host.
The new game show set after Pat Sajak's departure from "Wheel of Fortune" received criticism from fans of the show.
In the Toss Up challenges of the popular game show, the three contestants were displayed at the bottom of the screen in individual boxes. In contrast, the players were previously featured at the top of the screen in earlier episodes.
Fans noticed this change and expressed how much they despised the new set-up.
"The new set is not well-received by a viewer on the "Wheel of Fortune" Reddit forum. They also dislike the practice of showing contestants at the bottom during the toss-ups, as it is a distraction. The viewer prefers to focus on the puzzle and believes that the changes made to the show are unnecessary, especially with the new host."
The new look was met with disapproval from other fans who were visibly upset.
"The three boxes were nauseating," another comment read. "Let the viewer focus on the puzzle!"
""I won't watch because the set is bright, distracting, and cheap," one person wrote."
What they did was far from nice, as another fan put it.
Another "Wheel of Fortune" viewer agreed that the set, although referencing the 80s, could benefit from further enhancements. Additionally, the new Toss-up/Speed-up round design did not meet expectations.
Sajak was enjoyed by many fans as a host, but Seacrest is missed.
Though it will take time for me to get used to Seacrest's style, I appreciate his hosting skills.
Ryan is a good enough host, but the new set is too much. I'm not a fan.
After Seacrest debuted on "Wheel of Fortune" Monday night, the show received new critiques.
Despite acknowledging that he had taken on a significant part, Seacrest did not mention Sajak's name while starting the show.
The new "Wheel of Fortune" host expressed his feelings after being introduced alongside Seacrest and Vanna White.
Ryan Seacrest, your host for the evening, expressed his amazement at being able to continue the legacy of the show with all of you. He also mentioned his good friend Vanna White during his monologue.
"I'm thrilled to be hosting 'Wheel of Fortune,' a dream job I've been passionate about since I was a child watching it with my family in Atlanta. I appreciate the warm welcome and the opportunity to be a part of this beloved show that has been in homes for 40 years. I'm honored to be invited and know I have big shoes to fill. So, let's get started with 'Wheel of Fortune'!"
Although Sajak's name was absent in Seacrest's introduction, he acknowledged having "big shoes to fill."
In June 2023, Seacrest will replace Sajak as the host of "Wheel of Fortune."
