On Friday night, the Highway Patrol office in Rancho Cucamonga issued a press release stating that their officers responded to a call of a "pedestrian down in lanes" on the 210 freeway.
An unidentified woman was hit by a vehicle while driving in the HOV lane of eastbound SR-210 freeway. Despite receiving medical attention, she passed away at the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing, the press release stated.
The San Bernardino Coroners' Office has classified Gold's death as a suicide, according to Deadline.
The Gold family has launched a GoFundMe page to help cover expenses following the death of their 17-year-old daughter, Emily Gold. The family wrote, "We are deeply saddened to share the news that Emily Gold has passed away. As a community, let's come together to support the Gold family during this difficult time. All funds raised will go directly to the family to help with expenses."
Following Gold's death, Los Osos High School Principal Eric Cypher issued a statement to parents and students.
"A beloved Grizzly, Emily Gold, has passed away. She was a senior and a member of both the Varsity Dance Team and Varsity Cheer squad. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family as they mourn her loss."
The varsity dance team at Los Osos High School posted a tribute on their Instagram account, featuring videos, a photo, and a message in honor of Gold.
The caption stated, "We express gratitude for the love and support received during this period of mourning. We kindly request that you remember the Gold family in your thoughts and prayers."
In August, the high school dance team reached the quarterfinals of "America's Got Talent." AGT did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
Simon Cowell gave the young dancers words of encouragement, even though their dance team did not make it to the final round.
"Cowell praised the school's energy and talent-encouraging atmosphere, stating that it was brilliant."
He continued, "The experience reminded me of watching the High School Musical movie and believing every student should attend a school like that."
Soon after appearing on the competition program, Gold shared her experience with People.
