Tony Bennett's 'legacy of jazz music' honored by Lady Gaga on the one-year anniversary of his death.

On Saturday, the singer posted a black and white photo of herself with Bennett, her longtime friend and frequent collaborator, who passed away on July 21, 2023, at the age of 96.
""One year has passed since Tony's passing," Gaga expressed in her emotional caption, accompanied by a photo that perfectly encapsulated her feelings."
She continued, "I am grateful for my continued friendship with Susan, the legacy of jazz music Tony left behind, and the community of jazz musicians I still work with who all knew and loved Tony. We will keep swinging."
"Life is a beautiful thing," she added with a black heart emoji. "I miss you."
Bennett wore a tuxedo and sketched Gaga in a ball gown on the cover of their 2021 album "Love for Sale."
Bennett's drawing of Gaga was featured in their music video for "I Concentrate On You." Gaga reacted with joy and tears as Bennett presented her with his artwork.
Gaga and Bennett collaborated on "Cheek to Cheek" and frequently performed together.
Despite being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2016, the 20-time Grammy Award winner continued performing on his solo "I Left My Heart" Tour in 2019.
Gaga and Bennett collaborated for two Radio City Music Hall shows in August 2021 to commemorate Bennett's 95th birthday.
Gaga paid tribute to Bennett in an Instagram post, expressing her sadness over his passing and reminiscing about their shared experiences, including singing, recording, and performing together.

"Although it appeared to be an act, our relationship was genuine. He not only taught me about music and showbiz life, but also showed me how to maintain a positive attitude and stay focused."
In her first show back at her Lady Gaga: Jazz & Piano Las Vegas residency since his death, Gaga paid tribute to Bennett by performing a heartfelt rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon" in September.
Susan Benedetto, who was present at the show, was praised by Gaga as being loved by everyone in the audience, as per videos shared on social media by attendees.
At the concert, the singer was uncertain about what to say about Bennett because the entire show was dedicated to Tony.
The "Paparazzi" songstress, dressed in a sparkly tuxedo and top hat, revealed that all the elements of the performance, including the opening number, middle numbers, diamonds, musical instruments, conducting, and improvisation, were stored in his memory.
If Gaga knew him well, he would be furious if she was sad, so she couldn't reveal her emotions in public.
"She sang 'Fly Me to the Moon' when he was alive and will sing it now even though he's gone because he'll never truly be gone."
Gaga sang a sultry rendition of Bennett's hit with the piano, dedicating it to his widow, "Susan, this is for you."
