Tom Cruise was reportedly on a date with Heather Locklear, but she claimed he didn't meet her expectations.
Heather Locklear was overwhelmed by Tom Cruise's kindness during her 'rock and roll' era.
At the beginning of their careers, Tom Cruise was given a chance by Heather Locklear, but his polite demeanor didn't match her "rock and roll" image.
At 90s Con Florida, Locklear was on the panel and talked about the audition she and Cruise did for the same film.
"We auditioned for the film together and I felt terrible, but then I joked that he was even worse."
"At that time, he was like a little baby boy, and I felt like I was older. He ended up coming over to my house with Sean Penn, and they were both very polite. He was very submissive to me, and I was like, "Okay, sir.""
Despite initially believing that Cruise's lifestyle wouldn't match hers, Locklear still decided to go on a date with the up-and-coming actor.
""At that time, we went out dancing to Club Lingerie. I've said this before, but he was really cute," Locklear shared."
In "Risky Business," Cruise first showcased his iconic dance move, which involves sliding to the ground on his knees, and Locklear was among the first to witness it.
"Before the movie, he did that and I was dancing along like, ‘Do you stop dancing if they're down there?’” she said, referencing Cruise sliding on the ground. "I was like, ‘Yay!’ But he was very nice to me."
Locklear stated, "We didn't get the part in the audition."
Heather Locklear married Tommy Lee in 1986, but the couple divorced in 1993. She then married Richie Sambora in 1994, but the couple split in 2007.
Mimi Rogers was Cruise's first wife, whom he married in 1987 and divorced in 1990. He then married Nicole Kidman for 11 years before wedding Katie Holmes in 2006. The couple split in 2012.
In 1992, Locklear began her career on "Melrose Place," which ran for seven seasons. Recently, it was announced that a reboot of the show would be released 30 years after its initial airing.
"Beverly Hills, 90210" spawned "Melrose Place," which focused on a West Hollywood, California apartment complex's residents.
Amanda Woodward was Locklear's first guest role on the show in Season 1. She continued to appear as a guest star throughout the rest of the seasons.
After a five-year hiatus, Locklear returned to acting for the Lifetime biopic "Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff: The Kristine Carlson Story," which was released in 2021.
"At the time, she shared with People, 'I wasn't sure if I'd work again as there were no offers in sight. But then this opportunity presented itself.'"
