The King's 'presence' is felt by Elvis Presley's stepbrother in a Las Vegas hotel.
On August 16, 1977, the singer of the 'Heartbreak Hotel' passed away at the age of 47.
Despite Elvis Presley's passing 47 years ago, David Stanley, his stepbrother, remains deeply connected to the legendary icon.
Stanley discussed with Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, previously known as the International Hotel, where Presley performed his residency, tales of individuals experiencing his stepbrother's presence on the property.
Stanley stated that despite numerous claims by guests and performers of seeing the ghost, no confirmed sightings have been reported.
I often feel my brother's presence and have had a few experiences where I've believed Elvis was communicating with me, as many others have spoken about feeling Elvis' presence at various spots on the property.
During his show "My Brother Elvis," hosted at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, Stanley recalls more memories of his late stepbrother's life in Las Vegas.
Stanley mentioned that Presley would use a "nasal douche" to prepare for his show, which would help alleviate his concerns about getting "Vegas throat" due to the city's desert climate.
"I often feel my brother’s presence and have had a few experiences where I’ve believed Elvis was communicating with me." — David Stanley
Stanley remembered that Presley enjoyed martial arts and spent a lot of his free time training in his suite when he wasn't performing.
Stanley was one of three stepbrothers that Elvis Presley gained after his father remarried in 1960, following the death of his first wife and Presley's mother.
In 2022, another stepbrother, Billy Stanley, spoke with Planet Chronicle Digital about his last conversation with the legendary entertainer before his death.
On August 14, 1977, two days before Presley's death, Billy was mildly injured after sparring with his stepsiblings. While Presley helped him in the bathroom, Billy recalled Presley asking, "Do you believe God forgives us for all our sins?"
Stanley, taken aback, responded, "Yes, we've discussed this for nearly 17 years, Elvis." Presley then retorted, "I simply wanted to hear you confirm it, Billy."
Presley and Billy discussed their future plans, with Presley expressing his intention to part ways with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, and seek love again. The conversation ended with Presley stating that he would read his Bible, and Billy promising to meet him two days later, on Aug. 16.
Presley responded with "OK, I love you" as Stanley left, but he contemplated returning to tell Presley he loved him too. However, he ultimately decided to wait until they met again in a few days.
He told Planet Chronicle Digital that he wished he had gone back.
At the age of 42, Elvis Presley passed away on August 16, 1977, at his home in Memphis, Tennessee.
In Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935, Elvis Presley gained fame in the 1950s and revolutionized music with his unique combination of rockabilly, rhythm and blues, and country.
He gained fame for his bold stage presence and provocative dance moves, embodying youth culture and rebellion.
Presley became famous for his soulful voice and chart-topping hits such as "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock," and "Love Me Tender."
"Stanley was impressed by Elvis's ability to play multiple instruments and produce his own records, despite not being able to read music."
Presley starred in 31 films, including "Blue Hawaii" and "Viva Las Vegas," and also appeared in TV specials before establishing a Las Vegas residency.
After divorcing his wife Priscilla Presley and losing his only child, Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley's health began to decline due to his dependence on prescription drugs and weight gain.
In 2022, Sally A. Hoedel, the author of "Elvis: Destined to Die Young," revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital that he experienced intense pain in his final months.
"It's hard for us to believe that he was in physical pain because he always appeared so perfect on the outside, but his health issues became more difficult to manage as he toured more in the last several years, adding a lot of strain to his health."
After his unexpected and startling demise, Presley's reputation as a cultural icon was solidified, and he left behind a lasting legacy.
In 2022, Baz Luhrmann directed the biopic "Elvis," featuring Austin Butler as Presley and Tom Hanks as Parker. The film received eight Oscar nominations, including best actor for Butler.
"Since Baz Luhrmann's movie was released in 2022, there has been a surge in interest in Elvis, particularly among younger fans who were introduced to him through the film. As they delve deeper into his life and music, a new generation of Elvis fans is being created."
"He was just a natural musician. … The same was true for his acting." — David Stanley
At Graceland, Presley's mansion is now a museum, where his legacy can be seen in physical form.
The estate was halted from going up for auction at the last minute by authorities after it appeared to fall into foreclosure earlier this year.
Riley Keough, Presley's granddaughter, claimed that a fake company created forged documents stating that Lisa Marie Presley, her late mother, had taken out a multimillion-dollar loan that she never repaid. According to Keough, Graceland was included in the fake documents as collateral via a signed deed of trust.
On Friday, Lisa Jeanine Findley was accused of mail fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Graceland is now offering an exclusive new tour, 'Presley for a Day,' which fans can still visit.
For a unique and exclusive experience, the website offers access to some of the Presley family's favorite spots on the Graceland grounds, limited to eight guests per day, at a cost of $6,000 per person.
