Steve Martin will not host the Oscars again: "They don't compensate enough."
Steve Martin stated that he was not invited to host the Oscars for a fourth time.
Steve Martin has hosted the Oscars twice, once with Alec Baldwin, but he has no plans to return as the award show host.
Martin admitted to feeling nervous while hosting the show alone, but having a partner made it easier. When asked if he would return to host the Oscars with Martin Short, he said no.
""We love our summers, but that represents a lot of work for us. Martin said that when he hosted before, he started working months ahead of time, and now he has a completely different life. He's not as free, and it's a lot of work," said Martin."
The show "Only Murders in the Building," starring Short and Selena Gomez, was being discussed by Martin.
Martin reiterated his stance on not returning as host and stated that he had not received an invitation from the Oscars to host.
"Martin stated that the Oscars do not pay, unlike the Golden Globes, which pay for Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais. He believes that the Oscars should pay more, considering the significant amount of mental effort required."

Martin revealed he wrote a joke for the Oscars but never used it.
"He had a joke for the Oscars that he never used, but he always thought it was funny. He would say, "I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, Steve, how did you get to host the Oscars? It was easy. I just called my agent and I said, Get me something thankless.""
Martin disclosed during the interview with the LA Times that he will not be joining the "Saturday Night Live" cast to portray Kamala Harris' running-mate, Gov. Tim Walz.
Lorne Michaels, the "SNL" producer, called Martin to invite him to appear on the show, but Martin declined and revealed that he had been instructed to do so.
"I stated, 'Lorne, I am not an impressionist. You require someone who can accurately portray the individual.' I was selected because I have gray hair and glasses," he continued.
The actor pointed out that his ongoing commitment to portraying Walz on "SNL" does not match his current schedule.
"Martin stated that the task is ongoing and not a one-time event that receives applause and then never needs to be done again. He emphasized that a true impressionist is needed to execute it properly. He acknowledged that finding someone truly exceptional would be challenging and that he himself would struggle with it."
