SNL host made 'multiple cast members cry': Comedian Bowen Yang
During a table read on "Saturday Night Live," Bowen Yang's mystery host expressed dislike towards the show's ideas.
A live taping at Studio 8H during "Saturday Night Live" often results in tears of joy from cast, crew, and audience members.
During a table read at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan, longtime cast member Bowen Yang remembered a markedly different atmosphere.
During practice for the live sketch comedy series, the cast brainstormed ideas for the episode, and Yang recalled a male guest host who gave a "terrible" performance.
Yang revealed during a recent episode of "Watch What Happens Live" that the worst behavior he's witnessed was a host who made multiple cast members cry on Wednesday before the table-read because he hated the ideas.
The "Fire Island" star said the experience was "terrible."
Bowen, the co-host of the popular podcast "Las Culturistas" with Matt Rogers, kept the identity of the person who made his co-stars cry a secret.
Since joining the long-running series in 2018, Yang has become a mainstay on the NBC show.
"This man who … this person, this host made multiple cast members cry on Wednesday during the, before the table-read, because he hated the ideas." — Bowen Yang
He is not hesitant to give his all on camera and, when asked about his most memorable on-screen moment, remembered a sketch he had planned with host Ayo Edebiri last season.
Yang stated that they wrote a live sketch that took place in an elevator, and she and he were telling everyone that they should all make out or something because the elevator got stuck.
"Unbeknownst to us, it was transformed into a pre-tape, necessitating our adjustment. Despite my expectations, it did not turn out as well as I had hoped."
Yang stated, "Comedy is subjective, and you can't predict how it will be received by a particular audience. However, you should just let it go and not let it affect you."
