The "Beverly Hills, 90210" cast is still praising Shannen Doherty for being an "amazing example" during her cancer fight, even months after her death.
On Saturday, during a 90s con panel, Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth, and Ian Ziering praised Doherty's "brave" approach.
"Green commended the woman's bravery in going through a difficult experience and being transparent about it, saying, "It's an amazing example for everyone of how she put her own challenges and health things aside to share her experience with everyone.""
"Carteris stated that she has a friend who is currently battling cancer and shared that Shannen's legacy has inspired her. She believes that Shannen's legacy is making a significant impact on those who are struggling to find hope."
Shannen died July 13 after battling cancer for years.
Actress Shannen Doherty passed away on Saturday, July 13th, after a long battle with cancer. Her loved ones, including her devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, were with her during her final moments, along with her beloved dog, Bowie. Leslie Sloane, her publicist, confirmed the news in a statement.
"The family requests solitude to mourn in tranquility."
In 2015, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes. By 2017, she was in remission, but the cancer returned in 2020.
In November, Doherty disclosed that her cancer had spread to her brain and bones.
The "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress discussed the significance of relinquishing certain "aspirations" and belongings to facilitate a "smoother transition" for her family members as she battled Stage 4 breast cancer.
In an April podcast episode, she stated that her top priority was her mother. She acknowledged that her passing away before her mother would be difficult for her mother, so she wanted to make other aspects of her life easier to alleviate the burden. She didn't want her mother to have to deal with a lot of things, such as four storage units filled with furniture.
We don't need all the possessions we own, and it's beneficial to minimize our belongings to avoid becoming a hoarder, as I used to do with my furniture.
Last month on the "Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty" podcast, it was revealed that Shannen Doherty's mother, Rosa Doherty, would be taking over her daughter's podcast.
Rosa stated during the Aug. 15 episode that she would continue doing her best to fulfill her commitment to her because that was what they had agreed upon.
"Of course, I'm not her. I could never be her. I'm not as well-spoken as she was. But, I'm here for all of you, and I hope you're all here for me," she continued.
Shannen found great significance in this podcast as it provided her with the chance to share her story and her truth. Over time, there have been numerous stories, untruths, and mixed-up events that have left her yearning to set the record straight. Finally, she says, "I want to do this, and I have so many people who have followed me over the years and supported me. I just want to give them the opportunity to hear what my life is really like."
"The podcast was a result of her desire to share her experience, which was meaningful to her because she got to witness it firsthand and it helped her through her struggles."
