Sexual assault accuser to receive $100 million from Sean 'Diddy' Combs.
In June, Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith, a Michigan inmate, filed a lawsuit against Diddy for sexual assault and was later granted a default judgment.
On Monday, a judge granted a default judgment of $100 million against Sean "Diddy" Combs because he did not attend a court hearing.
Lenawee County Circuit Court Judge Anna Marie Anzalone ordered Combs to pay Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith, 51, $100 million after Combs failed to meet certain obligations within a specific time frame, resulting in a default judgment.
On August 7, a Michigan inmate, Cardello-Smith, filed a lawsuit against Combs. He had originally filed the lawsuit on June 10 and requested a temporary restraining order. The court granted his motion after Diddy failed to appear at the hearing.
Cardello-Smith appeared at all court hearings virtually, according to the docket.
Diddy's legal team plans to have the judgment dismissed.
"Marc Agnifilo, attorney for Combs, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that this man is a convicted felon and sexual predator who has been sentenced on 14 counts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the last 26 years. However, Agnifilo added that Combs has never heard of this man and has never been served with any lawsuit for committing a fraud on the court from prison."

In 1997, at a Detroit-area party, Diddy was accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Cardello-Smith, as stated in court documents obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital.
While working as a restaurant and hospitality employee in Detroit, he asserted that he had encountered the "I'll Be Missing You" singer.
The Metro Times reports that Cardello-Smith claims Diddy offered him $2.3 million to drop the lawsuit, based on visitation records produced by Cardello-Smith.

Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, faced a barrage of legal claims from multiple women who accused him of sexual assault starting in November 2023. One of the accusers, Cassie, filed a lawsuit alleging that she suffered "over a decade" of Diddy's "violent behavior and disturbed demands." The matter was settled a day later outside of court.
In December, three more women made claims before New York's Adult Survivors Act expired.
In February, music producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones sued Diddy, accusing him of compelling him to engage in sexual acts with prostitutes.
In March, Diddy's homes were raided by Homeland Securities Investigations (HSI) as part of a federal human trafficking investigation. Since then, he has faced additional allegations of sexual assault.
In May, Crystal McKinney filed a lawsuit alleging that she was assaulted in Sean Combs' recording studio following a dinner with the music mogul and an unknown fashion designer at Cipriani Downtown in New York during the 2003 Men's Fashion Week event.
In two months, a former adult film star filed a lawsuit against Diddy, accusing him of grooming her into sex trafficking while working as his employee at the Labor Day White Party.
Diddy has denied all sexual assault allegations.
