Samantha Cope and Joey Lawrence's marriage was "beyond saving," according to Joey Lawrence, who has addressed affair rumors.
Melina Alves and Joey Lawrence are being accused of having an affair while Joey is still married to Samantha Cope.
Joey Lawrence has denied rumors that he had an affair with co-star Melina Alves while still married to Samantha Cope.
On Thursday, the actor responded to the allegations on social media, asserting that there was no physical relationship between him and Alves.
"I want to address the recent allegations about my personal life, including my divorce and rumors of an affair with Melina Alves. While we became close friends during the filming of "Socked in for Christmas," there was no physical relationship between us. These rumors are untrue. Our friendship was built on shared experiences and mutual understanding of the difficulties we faced in our personal lives."
"When I first met Melina, my marriage was in turmoil. I was desperately trying to salvage a relationship that I knew deep down was beyond repair. Despite the challenges we faced from the start, I clung to the hope that we could overcome them. However, our differences proved to be insurmountable."
"Lawrence stated that his three daughters are his world as a father. He emphasized that they will always be his top priority. The breakdown of his marriage was due to his inability to compromise on the love and care his daughters deserve."
"Although my life is frequently under the spotlight, the intense scrutiny can be challenging to endure. Nevertheless, I want to emphasize that the welfare of my children is my top priority. I appreciate your understanding and respect as I navigate this period in my family's journey."
Lawrence did not immediately respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
On August 13, 2024, Cope filed for divorce two months after separating from Lawrence on June 7, 2024, according to court documents obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital. The couple, who married in 2022, have a one-year-old daughter, Dylan, whom Cope is seeking full physical custody of. Lawrence is also a father to two older daughters, Charleston and Liberty, with his ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson.
Lawrence and Alves met on the set of their upcoming film, "Socked in for Christmas," according to People magazine.
A source revealed that Joey met Melina Alves on the set of their movie, where she was a producer. He then love-bombed her just like he love-bombed Samantha. Despite Samantha finding out about it and confronting him, Joey continued to date Melina.
According to the source, Lawrence allegedly deceived their marriage counselor and would prepare for dates with Melina while Sam watched, crying.
According to TMZ, Lawrence submitted paperwork to separate from him a few weeks before Alves' estranged husband, Edward Rider, filed for divorce.
Rider allegedly discovered in March that Alves and Lawrence were having an affair, which led to the divorce filings obtained by the outlet.
On Wednesday, Alves addressed the rumors on her own social media account.
"Alves wrote on Instagram, "I am deeply saddened and pained by the recent allegations about my relationship with Joey Lawrence, which have been made public despite my desire to keep them private.""
"While filming "Socked in for Christmas," Joey and I did not have a sexual relationship. Our friendship, which developed naturally due to our shared experiences and personal situations, was meaningful and strong. When I first met Joey, I was struck by his kindness, warmth, and genuine character. Our friendship has been a source of strength for both of us."
"In addition, I must disclose that my estranged spouse has presented circumstances that required me to seek a temporary restraining order. This was a challenging and highly personal choice, made solely to safeguard myself during a time of vulnerability."
On the day I went to the police department to report the violation of the restraining order, Alves immediately contacted news outlets, further victimizing me.
