Rob Schneider's relationship with daughter Elle King is 'toxic': 'He's just not nice'
Elle King, a country singer, alleges that her actor father forced her to attend fat camp and missed all her birthdays as a child.
Rob Schneider, Elle King's father, is "just not nice," she shared in an interview about her challenging upbringing.
The country musician admitted to not speaking to her father for "four or five years" during a podcast interview with BunnieXO, wife of Jelly Roll.
King, 35, of the "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" actor, was told by Bunnie that he was one of her childhood crushes.
King stated that her relationship with her father was characterized by a distinctive fluctuation: "I released my album, and then individuals began inquiring about my father," she said. "My dad phoned me, and he was like, 'Don't discuss me in the media'."
If she ever spent a summer with her dad, it would be on a movie set. She would simply get lost in the chaos. If she ever made a mistake on set or spoke out of turn, she would face consequences.
King replied, "I never felt a connection until much later in life."
The singer remembered how he was a heavy child and his dad sent him to fat camp. However, he got into trouble the following year because he injured his ankle and failed to lose weight.
She added, "Very toxic and very silly."
King recalled that he had begun getting tattoos, but it was extremely hot outside, so he had to wear sweaters to cover up his body because his father was strongly against tattoos and any form of self-expression that did not align with his wishes.
"I was like a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp, and then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle and I didn't lose any weight." — Elle King
"I disagree with many of the things he says. He is talking nonsense and speaking negatively about drag and anti-gay rights, and it's like he's lost his mind. I want to use this opportunity to say that I disagree with his views."
Elle responded to Bunnie's inquiry about her father's attempts to assist her, stating, "No, he never helped me. I never wanted his help."
He didn't have a great reputation, and I don't want to be associated with him. He's not a nice person. You can't control how others feel or act, but you can control how you react and manage your emotions. Sometimes, I get so angry that I explode, but I try to control my emotions.
"I would try letters, soft, and yelling, but my dad still forgot about every single birthday. I spent my 18th birthday in a summer school, and they brought me cupcakes, but when I came home, my dad forgot my birthday."
"Bunnie expressed her disappointment to the country singer, saying, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.""
"It's done. It's over with. I'm Team Elle," Bunnie declared.
Representatives for Schneider are not commenting on King's claims at this time.
