Ree Drummond's daughter left her corporate job to become a cowgirl on the family ranch.
Paige Drummond, the daughter of Food Network star, is the first of her five siblings to resume full-time work on the ranch.
Paige Drummond, daughter of Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond, has returned to her family's ranch.
Paige, the first of the Drummond kids, returned to her hometown of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and began working alongside her father as a full-time cattle rancher, as previously revealed by Ree, 55, who shares five children with her husband Ladd.
In her blog post, Paige explained her choice to leave her corporate job in Dallas and adopt the cowgirl lifestyle, which was first featured in the fall 2024 issue of The Pioneer Woman Magazine.
After growing up on the sprawling Drummond Ranch, Paige found working in an office all day to be too stifling, according to the magazine.
"Paige shared in a video within a blog post that she never thought she would be back working on the ranch when she was younger. She had written it off. However, as she grew older and went away to college and started working a full-time job, she realized how much she missed it and wanted to come back to try it out again."
She said, "My dad used to tell me that I didn't have to stay forever if I didn't want to, but I wouldn't know if I liked it unless I tried. That's what I'm doing now, and it's been great so far."
Despite being the only female among the Drummond cattle ranchers, Ree stated that her daughter's upbringing prepared her for the role.
"Ree stated in a post that she can confidently keep up with the cowboys because she has been doing it since childhood."
In the video, Paige's scenes of rounding up cattle and working in the pens were shown, and Ree and Ladd's youngest daughter admitted that ranch life was challenging.
"Being a farmer is a physically demanding job that involves working with cattle and can result in bruises and fatigue. It's not for the faint of heart."
""Fortunately, I am not treated differently than others, so I must work equally hard like everyone else," Paige stated."
Starting her work days early was the "hardest part of the job," according to Paige.
Paige stated that the job demands multiple 4 a.m. mornings followed by 12-13 hour workdays, which can be quite exhausting.
She expressed gratitude and enjoys spending time outdoors.
Paige commences her typical workday at 3:30 a.m. by caring for the horses, followed by mounting her own horse and traveling over an hour to her job in Kansas, where she handles calves by wrangling, vaccinating, and branding them.
Paige stated that she wanted to make it clear that the portrayal of ranch life on television is not as perfect as it is often perceived.
""Ranch life is often glamorized on TV, but I believe many people don't truly comprehend its reality," she remarked."
""If everyone could ride their horse all day, every day, they would want this job," Paige added."
"Although it's challenging 90% of the time, farming is a rewarding profession that involves hard work, dealing with adversity, and taking care of animals."
Since they were kids, Paige's father had enlisted all of his children to assist him on the ranch.
"She stated in the video that he definitely wanted us to work. As kids, we worked quite a bit and were homeschooled, which provided us with more opportunities for him to take us out and work."
"Although I was not responsible for taking care of things on my own as a child, I am now learning new skills that require self-sufficiency. As a result, my experience is vastly different."
Paige expressed pride in being the first Drummond sibling to return to the family ranch full-time, but she thought her brothers would eventually follow suit.
Alex, 27, is shared by Paige, Ree, and Ladd, along with their sons Bryce, 21, Jamar, 21, and Todd, 20.
"She expressed excitement about her brothers coming back, stating that they would definitely return. She looked forward to their graduation from college and their eventual return to their family home."
In a June interview with People magazine, Ree revealed that despite Paige's recent engagement to her boyfriend David Andersen and her return to work on the ranch, she was not residing with her parents.
"The Food Network star revealed that her in-laws' house, which was previously theirs, is now being lived in by her. She stated that it's great that they still own the house and that her in-laws' house has been transformed into her own personal space."
Ladd lost both his parents, Nan and Chuck, in the years 2018 and 2021, respectively.
Ree stated that they are not trying to predict or think about how long she will stay or whether it will be a permanent part of her life.
In the video, Paige revealed that she was unsure if cattle ranching would be her long-term career.
""I'm not sure if I'll stay here, but for now, it's great," she said."
