Queens of the Stone Age cancel 2024 concerts due to frontman Josh Homme's 'essential medical care'
In 2022, Josh Homme, the founder of the band, was diagnosed with cancer.
Queens of the Stone Age, a rock band, are canceling the remaining concerts in 2024.
The band announced the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows through a statement on social media.
Josh Homme, the founding member and lead singer and guitarist of the band, has been forced to prioritize his health and receive necessary medical care for the rest of the year.
We are grateful for your support and the time we spent together with the QOTSA family over the past year. We hope to reunite with you in 2025.
After canceling several European tour dates, the band had to call off the rest of the tour a month later due to an emergency surgery that Homme needed in the United States.
Despite all efforts to continue playing for you, it is no longer possible to proceed.
"Josh and the QOTSA family are so thankful for your support and the time we were able to spend together over the last year. Hope to see you all again in 2025." — Queens of the Stone Age
The "Mosquito Song" band expressed their disappointment and frustration over not being able to perform for their fans, and provided information on how to obtain refunds in the caption of their post.
In a 2023 interview with Revolver Magazine, Homme disclosed that he had been diagnosed with cancer a year prior. He did not specify the type of cancer, but stated that he had undergone a successful surgery to remove it.

The band is not alone in having to cancel shows for health reasons.
This year, Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring because of lead singer Steven Tyler's vocal problems.
"The band announced that Steven's voice is unique and he has spent months perfecting it. Despite having the best medical team, he has been struggling with his injury. Unfortunately, a full recovery is not possible. As a band, they have made a difficult decision to retire from touring."
