Prince William warns that Kate Middleton still has a long journey ahead after declaring she is cancer-free.
In March 2024, Princess Catherine of Wales disclosed her cancer diagnosis.
On Tuesday, Prince William appeared in public in Wales after his wife Kate Middleton announced on Monday that she is cancer-free.
The British royal heir visited the Swiss Valley Community Primary School in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, and interacted with children. However, he also took time to engage with the crowd outside who were eager to converse with him.
The prince shared his thoughts on Princess Catherine's health revelation during his interview with the media.
He informed the press, as reported by the BBC, that while it's good news, there is still a considerable distance to cover.
A day after Middleton released a video about her cancer battle, the prince issued a cautionary response.
The past nine months have been incredibly challenging for our family. Life can change in an instant, and we've had to learn to navigate through the turbulent waters and uncharted territory," she said, with a vivid image of her family spending time outdoors. "The cancer journey is a complex, frightening, and unpredictable experience for everyone, especially those closest to us." She added, "This time has made William and me appreciate and be thankful for the simple yet essential things in life that we often overlook. It's about simply loving and being loved.
"My focus now is to stay cancer-free, even though I have completed chemotherapy. My journey to complete healing and full recovery is still a long way off, and I must take each day as it comes. Despite this, I am excited to return to work and participate in more public engagements in the coming months."
In March, Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis, and in May, she attended the Trooping the Colour ceremony, her first major royal event since the diagnosis.
In the video, Middleton expressed her gratitude for the support she and Prince William had received during this time. She stated that the kindness, empathy, and compassion of everyone had been truly humbling. Middleton also encouraged those going through their own cancer journey to remain strong and find hope in the darkness.
In March, the Princess of Wales revealed in a pre-recorded message that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. The palace had previously announced in January that the Princess of Wales had undergone abdominal surgery.
Middleton has not publicly disclosed what kind of cancer she was diagnosed with.
