Prince Andrew and King Charles had a heated argument over the monarch's plan to reduce the status of his nieces, according to a report.
According to Christopher Andersen, the author of 'The King,' the monarch considered stripping Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice of their royal titles.
Before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were known as the feuding siblings of the royal family, there was King Charles and Prince Andrew.
In 2008, Andrew's older brother proposed a plan to simplify the monarchy, but it was unsuccessful.
Charles proposed that several Windsor descendants be stripped of their HRH status, lose royal protection, and be removed from the royal payroll, as revealed by Christopher Andersen, author of "The King," in an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital.
Andersen stated that Prince Andrew opposed the proposals that would have required Beatrice and Eugenie to support themselves and lose their royal titles, which was met with opposition in a heated argument between him and Charles.
According to Andersen, the Duke of York didn't hesitate before deciding to "throw a temper tantrum."
"According to Andersen, the confrontation between the two brothers was a heated argument, with both brothers known for their explosive temperaments. It occurred years before Andrew's involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal led to his removal from the royal family."
"By all accounts, it was a literal battle royale, a desk-pounding shouting match between the two brothers, both known for their volatile tempers." — Christopher Andersen, author of "The King."
After royal experts informed Planet Chronicle Digital that Beatrice and Zara Tindall had stepped in to support William, Andersen made his claims.
Before his feud with Andrew, Charles, 75, had good reason to consider the monarchy's future, as Andersen stated.
Royal author claims that Queen Elizabeth remained incredibly close to Prince Andrew right up until her death.
Prince William became a member of the Way Ahead Group in 2006, which was a close-knit group of family and advisors that helped chart the future course of the monarchy. The group included Queen Elizabeth's children, Charles, Anne, Andrew, Edward, and the queen herself. The details of their twice-yearly meetings were kept secret.
"The queen's decisions to pay income taxes, mothball the royal yacht, and end primogeniture were the result of discussions by the Way Ahead Group. Although Prince Harry was third in line to the throne, he was not invited to join. By 2008, the focus of deliberations shifted to King Charles' vision of a more efficient and streamlined monarchy."
Andersen stated that the rivalry between the brothers has been ongoing for a long time, which would have been a significant change if Eugenie and Beatrice had been demoted.
Prince Andrew and the king have always had a strained relationship, according to Andersen. The queen paid equal attention to both Andrew and the youngest brother, Edward, while their father, Prince Philip, favored Anne. As a result, they were often referred to as "two peas in a pod."
"Andersen claimed that Charles, as the oldest and heir to the throne, was emotionally abandoned by his parents, leaving him out in the cold. Charles was 11 years old when Andrew was born, and the king has resented his younger brother ever since."
In 2022, England's longest-reigning monarch, the queen, passed away at the age of 96. There were rumors that Charles, who became king, would remove Beatrice and Eugenie of their titles upon ascension.
The Duke of York, who was once eighth in line to the throne, lost his military affiliations and royal patronages due to his controversial friendship with Epstein and allegations of sexual assault. It was believed that Charles, 64, would continue to remove any trace of affiliation to the dynasty after the prince "embarrassed" the family with his actions.
Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, 64, are the parents of Beatrice, 36, and Eugenie, 34. Despite their highly publicized divorce in 1996, the couple has maintained a friendly relationship.
Despite Andrew's scandalous divorce from their mother, Beatrice and Eugenie remained favorites of the queen and were particularly close to their cousins, William and Harry, according to Andersen.
"It is ironic that now, with the king and Princess Kate battling cancer, they are proving indispensable to the king," Andersen shared. "Charles certainly must be glad that he didn't go through with his plan to have them phased out. … Ironically, Prince Andrew and Fergie are out in the cold, but their two daughters are still very much in the royal thick of things."
Despite distancing themselves from certain family members, Andersen asserted that the princesses remained committed to their royal duties.
"Andersen stated that William and Kate are fond of Beatrice and Eugenie, and it's worth noting that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, were once very close to them as well. However, in recent months, the sisters have pulled back on their friendship with the Sussexes and made a show of their allegiance to the crown. Beatrice and Eugenie may have acted as peacemakers in the past, but Andersen doesn't see that happening now."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned as senior royals in 2020 and relocated to California. Since then, they have openly discussed their difficulties with royal life, which has intensified their rift with the family.
"Andersen stated that standing with Harry and Meghan implies standing against the king and William and Kate. However, the sisters cannot afford to do so at the moment, especially when they are earning praise from the royal family for their contributions while the king and Kate are absent due to their cancer treatments."
Andersen remarked, "Being on the right side of the monarchy is always beneficial, as their parents discovered the hard way."
In 2019, Andrew withdrew from royal duties because of his association with Epstein, a convicted sex offender. He also lost his honorary military titles. After her death in 2022, the queen revoked his leadership of charities and prohibited him from using the "his royal highness" title in official settings.
The council in York voted unanimously to revoke Prince Andrew's "freedom of the city." The honor was granted to him in 1987, and he is the first person to have it taken away. Local leaders have also called for him to lose his title as Duke of York. A spokesperson for Andrew declined to comment on the matter.
In 2020, Virginia Roberts Giuffre filed a lawsuit accusing Andrew of exploiting her sexually on three occasions in 2001 when she was 17. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
In 2022, a U.S. judge dismissed the sex abuse lawsuit against Andrew, who settled with Giuffre. The prince made a substantial donation to his accuser's charity and declared he never intended to harm her reputation.
In 2019, at the age of 66, Epstein was discovered deceased in his cell. The U.S. attorney in Manhattan charged Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend, with aiding in the recruitment of his underage victims. She was found guilty in 2021 and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Andrew was mentioned in previously concealed court records concerning Epstein that were made public in the new year. This was part of a 2015 lawsuit brought against Maxwell by Giuffre.
The documents, including interviews with some of Epstein's accusers and old police reports, revealed that the wealthy businessman had been associated with prominent and influential individuals, some of whom have also been implicated in wrongdoing.
