Post Malone's daughter saved his life, according to the rapper-turned-country artist.
Post Malone, who is set to make his Grand Ole Opry debut in Nashville on Wednesday, acknowledges the support of his fiancée.
Throughout his brief yet successful music career, Post Malone has donned numerous hats.
The artist gained fame in the hip-hop world with his 2016 debut album "Stoney," which included the hit song "Congratulations." He is now set to release his sixth studio album, "F-1 Trillion," which focuses solely on country music.
As Post, born Austin Richard Post, prepares for his first Grand Ole Opry performance on Aug. 14, he reflects on overcoming personal struggles to achieve the dream of playing at one of the world's most esteemed theaters.
The singer of "Sunflower" was born in New York and later moved to Texas, where his father managed concessions for the Dallas Cowboys. Despite this, video games sparked his passion for music.
He tried to become a real guitarist, but it didn't work out. Instead, he turned to songwriting.
Malone possesses a talent for transforming melancholic gloom into commercially successful pop hits, as described by Rolling Stone.
""I believe it's fascinating that you're creating a baby using sound waves," he remarked."
In 2022, Malone welcomed his own child with his longtime partner. During an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show," the artist casually recalled, "At 2:30 in the afternoon, I went and I kissed my baby girl."
The radio host inquired, "Which baby girl are you referring to - your girlfriend or do you have a baby?"
""No, that's my daughter," he replied, stating that he would maintain the privacy of his daughter's personal information. "I want her to make her own choices," he added."
Malone's partner is not his wife, but he is engaged to her.
The "I Had Some Help" singer keeps his family private and hasn't disclosed his daughter's name, but he has tattooed her initials on his forehead.
"He told CBS that he would never forget her, and if anyone heard her cry, they would never forget her too. He added that it changed him in the best way ever, and the most beautiful thing was that she had a beautiful mom."
He credited both with saving his life.
"Four years ago, I was on a difficult journey," he stated. When asked about his struggles, Malone replied, "It was everything. It was horrific."
Despite his success, he confessed that loneliness often affected his daily routine.
"Four years ago, I was on a rough path." — Post Malone
"Malone stated, "I used to get up, have a good cry, drink, and then live my life. But now, whenever I lay down, I drink and cry some more, feeling like I have to wake up tomorrow and repeat the cycle. However, I no longer feel that way, and it's the most amazing thing.""
The experience was humbling and somewhat necessary.
Malone stated, "I had to determine who I am for my own sake."
Another crucial element of his live performances is his intimate relationship with his fans and conveying to audiences that they are loved.
It's crucial because not everyone is aware of it," he stated. "There are numerous extremely lonely individuals.
"My goal is to make others feel the way I felt, and I know they do. As I stand here on stage, I want everyone to feel welcome and loved. This is the most important thing for me."
This month, Malone's first country album will be released, featuring collaborations with renowned artists such as Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton, and Dolly Parton.
"I don't want people to feel how I've felt. And I know they do. And I'm here, and I'm on stage. And I just want everyone to feel welcome and to feel loved. And that's the most important thing for me." — Post Malone
Luke Combs seized the chance to be a part of history when he learned about the upcoming Malone album, and he collaborated on a duet titled "Guy For That."
""I wanted to be part of the project he was working on, and I think country music is going through big times," Combs stated."
In July, Brad Paisley, an Opry member, invited Malone to perform at the Nashville institution.
Brad Paisley stated in a video shared on X, "Hey Post, it's Brad here. I think you'll find what I'm about to ask you is going to be significant, given your love for country music and the journey you're currently undertaking as a hillbilly singer. This journey is going to be monumental and awe-inspiring for both country music and I believe you."
"Would you like to join me in playing the Opry in August? It's an exclusive invitation, and I have a feeling it's just the beginning of many appearances to come. Let's jam together and experience the show that started it all. Your friends will be there, and we're going to have a great time!"
On Wednesday, the show will have guest performances by Vince Gill, John Michael Montgomery, The War and Treaty, and Lainey Wilson.
Malone exclaimed, "I can't believe it - the location I'm currently in!"
