Michelle Pfeiffer is a talented actress who brings emotional depth, authenticity, and grace to every role she plays. She is the ideal lead for the new chapter of the 'Yellowstone' universe, 'The Madison,' created by Taylor Sheridan, according to Chris McCarthy, co-CEO and president and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, in a statement to Variety.
Pfeiffer will make her TV comeback with "The Madison," following her role as Betty Ford in the 2022 Showtime anthology series "The First Lady." The release date for "The Madison" is yet to be determined.
"The Madison," a sequel to "Yellowstone," is set in the present day and was first announced in November 2023.
"1944," another spinoff of "Yellowstone," is also being developed by Paramount.
The TV series "Yellowstone," which premiered in June 2018, focuses on the Dutton family, headed by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who own the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, a vast piece of land in Montana that has been in their family for generations.
In June, Costner, 69, announced that he would not be returning for the second half of "Yellowsone's" fifth and final season, despite recently releasing the first chapter of his four-part Western film series "Horizon: An American Saga."
"I have some news to share with you all. After working on Horizon for over a year and a half, and considering the challenges that come with it, I have come to the conclusion that I won't be able to continue with Season 5 or any future seasons," Costner stated in his post.
"The experience that transformed me was something I loved and I know you loved it too. I wanted to inform you that I won't be coming back. Despite the wonderful relationship we've built, I'll catch up with you at the cinema."
