This past weekend, it was reported that Mariah Carey's mother and sister passed away on the same day.

Carey shared a statement with the outlet confirming the tragic news.

Sadly, my sister lost her life on the same day that my mother passed away, leaving me devastated.

"Carey expressed gratitude for spending the last week with her mom before her passing, and appreciated the love, support, and respect for her privacy during this difficult time."

Carey did not reveal any further information about her family members' deaths to the media. A spokesperson for Carey did not promptly respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry for comment.

The singer, her sister, and her mother have not always had a harmonious relationship.

In 2020, their mother was sued by her sister Alison, who claimed she was subjected to sexual abuse by multiple men during Satanic worship meetings as a child.

In February, a summons was filed with the New York Supreme Court accusing Patricia, Alison's mom, of sexual abuse when she was 10 years old. This information was obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital.

Alison alleged that her mother permitted and supported an unspecified number of men to engage in sexual acts, including forcible touching and first-degree sexual assault, and made her witness to adults and children engaging in sexual acts.

She asserted that the events occurred during "nighttime satanic rituals involving sacrifices."
