Mariah Carey hadn't seen her sister in decades before her passing, according to a report.
On August 24, both Mariah Carey's mother, Patricia, and her sister, Alison Carey, passed away.
Alison, Mariah Carey's sister, was not seen by Mariah for many years before her passing, as per a friend of Alison.
According to People magazine, David Baker, a friend of Carey's sister for nine years, stated that Alison hadn't seen the "We Belong Together" singer since either 1994 or 2002.
In her 2020 memoir, Carey stated that it was safer, both emotionally and physically, to avoid contact with her sister or brother.
Baker stated that Alison was both highly intelligent and very sensitive, according to the outlet.
Carey's mom, Patricia, and Alison both died Aug. 24.
Carey shared with People magazine that her heart is broken after losing her mother over the weekend, and sadly, her sister also passed away on the same day in a tragic event.
"Carey expressed gratitude for spending the last week with her mom before her passing, and appreciated the love, support, and respect for her privacy during this difficult time."

Carey did not share details regarding either death.
Carey's representative did not promptly respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry for comment.
In 2015, Alison met Baker after she sustained a brain injury during a home invasion.
He recounted to People magazine how he saw someone in need of assistance and knew he could help, and how grateful she was to have him around.
"Before she became ill, if he went somewhere for an hour, she would call and inquire about his return time. He would respond by saying he would be back in 20 minutes. However, due to the brain injury, she would call again to inquire about his return time, indicating that her short-term memory was affected."
Alison and her mother had a strained relationship. Carey's estranged sister sued their mother in 2020, alleging she was subjected to sexual abuse from multiple men at Satanic worship meetings when she was 10 years old.
In a lawsuit obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital, Alison accused Patricia of enabling and encouraging an undisclosed number of men to engage in sexual acts such as forcible touching and made her witness people engaged in sexual acts with adults and children.
She asserted that the event occurred during "nighttime satanic rituals involving sacrifices."
