Lily Allen mocked for taking her dog back to the animal shelter due to the dog eating her passport.
In 2021, David Harbour and Lily Allen welcomed Mary into their family as their adopted puppy.
Lily Allen is facing criticism for taking her dog to an animal shelter due to its misbehavior.
On Thursday, Allen revealed on her "Miss Me?" podcast that her and Harbour's family puppy, Mary, had been returned to the animal shelter. Harbour and Allen adopted Mary from Animal Haven in 2021, according to Page Six.
""We already adopted a dog together, but it ate my passport, so I took it back to the home," she said."
Allen remarked that Sam Cooper ate all three of their passports.
""Allen stated that they had our visas in [there], and I cannot express how much it cost to replace everything during the COVID pandemic, which made it a logistical nightmare," he said."
"The passports weren’t the only thing she ate. She was a very badly behaved dog." — Lily Allen
The singer stated, "My children's father resides in England. I was unable to bring them back to visit him for four or five months due to the dog eating their passports."
Cooper and Allen share daughters Ethel, 12, and Marnie, 11.
Allen stated that Cooper prevented her daughters from using Harbour's last name on their new documents, resulting in Allen forming a grudge against the dog.
She couldn't look at the dog who ruined her life.
Allen added that she ate more than just passports and was a very badly behaved dog.
Many people took to social media to express their views on Allen's comments about returning Mary to a shelter.
"Dogs that are returned to shelters may become more difficult to rehome and face a higher risk of euthanasia, according to a user on X, formerly known as Twitter. Training dogs is simple, and they are not 'badly behaved' but 'untrained' by their human caretakers. This is a concerning issue. It's disheartening to hear this, Lily Allen. It's unacceptable."
Another user pointed out that the problem hadb't been the dog.
"The problem was not the dog, but you @lilyallen. On the bright side, at least that poor pup won't have to tolerate you anymore," the user wrote.
In 2021, the Instagram account for Allen's puppy was active and received comments from fans under the posts.
"This sweetheart did not ruin someone's life, but may have mildly inconvenienced them," one user wrote.
Wouldn't her babies miss seeing their dad for 4/5 months if he couldn't fly to them? Has she never heard of Facetime? I'm not angry with her, just disappointed by the magnitude of her ego and self-centeredness.
Poor baby, just doing what a puppy does, keeping things out of reach. I wonder if the baby kids tore them up if they would have been put out of home.
Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment from Allen's representative was not immediately responded to.
