Joey Lawrence acknowledges the 'suffering' in his marriage with his ex-wife following his denial of affair rumors with a co-star.

Joey Lawrence is speaking out about his divorce following rumors of an alleged affair.

Lawrence began to explain on the "Brotherly Love" podcast, stating that there is a lot of speculation and it is out there.

"My family's private journey has been made public, which makes me sad for my children."

The "Blossom" actor shared more about his emotional journey with his marriage and emphasized the importance of putting his children first.

He stated that he does everything in his power to safeguard his children, but the recent events are unacceptable.

"Despite appearances, the journey over the past four to five years has been a complex and painful one."

Lawrence's comments were made after he was accused of having an extramarital affair just over a week after his wife, Samantha Cope, filed for divorce.

Despite rumors that he had an affair with Melina Alves while still married to Cope, he denied the allegations. Alves also denied the rumors on social media.

Alves wrote, produced and co-starred with Lawrence in the film, and I want to clarify that there was no sexual relationship between Joey and myself while we were on set filming ‘Socked in for Christmas.’

Amidst rumors of an extramarital affair during his divorce, Lawrence admitted that he is trying to move forward and put the allegations behind him.

Lawrence stated on the podcast, "Life will continue, and we will navigate through this. My children will lead the way."

He stated that he would always strive to be the best dad he could be and would take care of his daughters until his death. He promised to cherish and honor them and do his utmost for them.

"I may not be flawless, but I will give my utmost effort to them."

Lawrence concluded his comments on the podcast and said, "It's a private journey, and we'll do our best. I'll make sure that Dylan does the best too, just like I have for Charlie and Libby. That's the most important thing."

Before the podcast was released, Cope issued a statement to People, refuting Lawrence's claim that their marriage was deeply troubled and stating that his daughters were accepted by the actress, as he had previously stated on Instagram.

"Joey's mother, who cherishes her daughter above all else, expressed her concern over false accusations in a statement. She is confident that the truth is known to her, Joey, and God."

She continued, stating that she had decided to prioritize healing, caring for her daughter, and dealing with the loss of her marriage and family.

Lawrence has a total of three children.

Charleston and Liberty are the two daughters that Chandie Lawrence shares with him. The couple had been married for 15 years before they decided to end their relationship.

In January 2023, Lawrence and his soon-to-be ex-wife Cope welcomed their daughter, Dylan.

Cope is seeking full physical custody of their one-year-old daughter while allowing Lawrence visitation at her discretion. Additionally, Cope has requested to prevent the court from awarding either side spousal support.
