Jenna Ortega reveals that Cameron Boyce felt uneasy about performing a kiss scene during an audition when they were both teenagers.
Boyce was the last person Ortega saw during her audition in 2019.
During an audition when they were teenagers, Jenna Ortega remembered how Cameron Boyce defended her and refused to kiss her.
Boyce, a Disney Channel star, was known to the 21-year-old actress since childhood. Tragically, he passed away in 2019 at the age of 20 due to a seizure while sleeping.
Boyce's last exchange with Ortega before his death was remembered by her in a recent interview with French TV outlet Canal+, along with her co-stars Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara.
"I knew Cameron Boyce since I was 11 or 12, and we were supposed to kiss in an audition. However, when we were 15 or 16 and were supposed to be love interests, he felt uncomfortable due to the age difference and we both agreed that we couldn't go through with it."
"Although I was uncomfortable and struggling, it was still sweet because we wished each other well."
Boyce's intervention made Ortega feel "really thankful and grateful."
Both Ryder and O'Hara praised the "Mrs. Fletcher" actor for his chivalrous behavior, calling him a "gentleman."
In July 2019, Boyce's family stated that he passed away in his sleep because of a seizure caused by an underlying medical condition.
An autopsy report from the Los Angeles County coroner's office revealed that Boyce's death was caused by an unexpected seizure.

On July 6, the "Descendants" star was discovered unresponsive at home and subsequently declared dead at the scene, according to the report.
At the time of Boyce's passing, his family issued a poignant statement through their representative.
A Boyce family spokesperson reported that this morning they lost Cameron with a profoundly heavy heart.
The family, who are "utterly heartbroken" by the passing of their loved one, have asked for privacy while they grieve. However, they also stated that his spirit will continue to live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.
Since he was 9 years old, Boyce had been deeply involved in charity work and acting. In March 2019, he introduced former Vice President Joe Biden at the Biden Courage Awards.
At the annual Cam For A Cause fundraiser for The Cameron Boyce Foundation in June, Boyce's parents Libby and Victor expressed their appreciation for the friends and fans who honored him on May 258, which would have been his 25th birthday.
The son's outpouring of love means everything to Victor, as he shared with the outlet.
"The love that Cameron receives is what keeps us as a foundation. We can continue to grow and push out our mission and message because people still want to hold onto him," Victor said.
""Obviously, it's crucial for us to keep his legacy alive, as well as all of his fans and supporters," he stated."
"Libby stated, "This moment serves as a reminder of the beautiful soul we brought into the world, but also of the responsibility we have in raising him. It's a bittersweet experience, as it was a difficult day, yet it was also a beautiful thing to witness the impact he had on so many people.""
