Jenna Ortega, a Disney actress, removed her Twitter account after receiving explicit images of herself that were generated by AI.
In the upcoming horror film, 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice', Ortega takes on the lead role.
Jenna Ortega has consistently shown an affinity for horror, starring in TV series such as "Wednesday" and films like "Scream" and "X."
As a Disney Channel star, Ortega has faced a new kind of fear, which stems from artificial intelligence.
"The actress who will play Beetlejuice in the upcoming film stated on The New York Times' podcast that she dislikes AI."
""AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare, but the idea of being a child and having my image exploited on social media is horrifying, corrupt, wrong, and disgusting," she stated."
Since her debut on Disney's "Stuck in the Middle" in 2016, Ortega has experienced explicit content on social media from the start.
"Did I like being 14 and making a Twitter account because I was supposed to and seeing dirty edited content of me as a child? No. It’s terrifying. It’s corrupt. It’s wrong. It's disgusting." — Jenna Ortega
"When I was 12, I received an unsolicited photo of a man's genitals via direct message, which was just the beginning of the child pornography that was sent to me," Ortega shared. She also stated that she was sent AI-generated child pornography of herself.
"I had a Twitter account, but I was advised to create one to enhance my image. However, I deleted it after the release of the show 'Wednesday' due to the influx of repulsive images and photos, which added to my confusion."
Wednesday Addams, portrayed by Ortega, is the star of the Netflix series "Wednesday," a spinoff from the 1964 original "The Addams Family." The show quickly gained popularity, and a video of Ortega dancing in character went viral online.
The actress, now 21, reveals that she previously utilized Twitter (now X) to express her political and personal views.
"She exclaimed, "This stuff is disgusting and makes me feel bad and uncomfortable after being grated with it.""
"I deleted it because I couldn't speak without seeing something similar. I didn't need to see that every day, so one day I woke up and thought, "I don't need this anymore." So, I dropped it."
Ortega claims to be "learning" how to safeguard herself, yet she still maintains an Instagram presence.
The actress' representative did not promptly respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry for comment.
