Jelly Roll, a country singer, confesses that he has second thoughts about some of his facial ink.
Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party and MusiCares Person of the Year gala mark singer's celebration of Grammy weekend.
Despite enjoying himself immensely, Jelly Roll remains humble.
The singer, known as the "Son of a Sinner," was excited while discussing his latest project with Planet Chronicle Digital, stating, "I have a Super Bowl ad with Uber Eats. This is the craziest thing happening to me right now."
Jelly Roll is stunned to see his tattooed reflection in the mirror, exclaiming that "they're everywhere … and they're terrible!"
He acknowledged that there's some truth in every joke, though he didn't specify which of his tattoos he regrets.
Jon Bon Jovi was honored at the 33rd annual MusiCares Person of the Year gala, where he received a Grammy Award for his 11th nomination and founding membership in the American rock band Bon Jovi.
Jelly Roll sang the band's classic "Bad Medicine" in honor of the singer, saying, "Isn't that amazing?"
"Jelly Roll remarked that Bon Jovi wrote fearlessly on their albums, despite being afraid to write today. He said, "It was all hook, everything was infectious, like the hook, the pre-chorus felt like a hook, the verse felt like a hook, the hook felt like a double look, it was catchy. Unbelievable, unbelievable.""
Jon Bon Jovi's "Unbelievable" impact is being shared by Jelly Roll.
At the Beverly Hilton, the 39-year-old spoke with Planet Chronicle Digital at the Clive Davis annual pre-Grammy party, describing the event as "unreal."
Jelly Roll stated that he simply wanted to pay it forward, as he never imagined they would be in this position.
Since I was a kid, I have been watching Clive Davis parties on documentaries, movies, and major motion picture films. Being here now, it's all just surreal to me.
In January, Jelly Roll addressed Congress about the effects of fentanyl on Americans as part of his "pay it forward" mindset.
In his testimony before the Senate Banking Committee, Jason DeFord, also known as Jelly Roll, spoke fervently about the drug's effects and confessed his past as a dealer, stating, "I was a contributor to the issue. I am here today as a man seeking to be a part of the resolution."
He implored legislators to enact the FEND Off Fentanyl Act, which aims to curb Chinese chemical manufacturers and Mexican drug cartels that smuggle fentanyl.
"Although I am a stupid songwriter, I have witnessed this firsthand in a way most people have not. I urge you all to not only pass this bill but also to discuss it at the kitchen table," he concluded.
Jelly Roll claims to have spoken with senators after his congressional testimony.
After giving testimony, the "Wild Ones" singer shared with Planet Chronicle Digital that he has received contact from numerous senators and is thrilled about the response.
Jelly Roll acknowledged that there is still work to be done, but he stated, "I believe we have initiated a dialogue that can lead to further discussions, and the more discussions we have, the closer we will get to the truth and achieve our objectives. This is my hope."
At Sunday night's Grammy ceremony, the Tennessee native was nominated for two awards: best new artist and best country duo/group performance with Lainey Wilson for their song "Save Me". However, he didn't win in either category.
Victoria Monét was defended by Jelly Roll on social media, with the statement, "It's clear that Victoria Monét deserved the best new artist award. She is an incredible artist who has been writing hits for others for a long time. She deserves every bit of this recognition. We'll be back next year with more nominations, and I'm inspired by her talent."
The excitement of Jelly Roll about the Clive Davis party was evident.
"Tomorrow will be a great day for me, regardless of the outcome. We will enter as winners," he stated.
I was at Clive Davis' party the night before. This week, I've been hanging out with my wife on the West Coast. The weather has been great, and the week has been awesome. I have nothing to complain about.
Planet Chronicle Digital's Chris Pandolfo contributed to this report.
