Halle Berry celebrates 20th anniversary of 'Catwoman' by posing topless with her cats.
In 2004, 'Catwoman' earned Berry the Razzie Award for worst actress.
Halle Berry is celebrating the anniversary of one of her most iconic roles.
The actress honored the 20th anniversary of her iconic movie "Catwoman" by sharing topless photos with her cats on Instagram, strategically covering her chest with the cats and wearing a black mask to pay tribute to the character.
""Twenty years have passed since I brought the iconic character to life, and she will always be close to my heart as Patience Phillips aka CATWOMAN," Berry captioned the post."
The comments section was filled with positivity as her fans and celebrity friends, including Julianne Moore, shared their admiration with a red heart.
""Ms. Berry!? You look phenomenal! A sequel is needed, tbh," one fan wrote."
Berry expressed gratitude to her friend for aiding her in the rescue of her two black kittens, who had wandered into her yard in search of their mother.
Berry announced the addition of two kittens, Boots and Coco, to her family in a June 2024 Instagram post. She found the four kittens and their mother lost in her backyard and decided to keep two of them. The other two were found a new home, while the mother cat was spayed and now lives in Berry's yard as an outdoor cat.
In 2004, the actress portrayed the title role in "Catwoman," which, despite boasting a star-studded ensemble, became a critical failure, earning an 8% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a Razzie Award for worst picture.
Berry won worst actress at the same award show where she won worst picture, and accepted the award on stage with her Oscar, two years after winning best actress for "Monster's Ball."
"I had poured my heart and soul into my speech, but I made sure to keep it light and fun. I wanted everyone to know that I didn't take it too seriously, and that I was just happy to be there. No matter what anyone said, I knew I would always hold onto my Oscar. If people praised me, I would accept it with grace, and if they criticized me, I would take it in stride. I knew that the wonderful things people said were just as important as the not-so-wonderful things."
"And STILL... meow! It’s been 20 years today since I had the honor of bringing this iconic character to life. She will always be close to my heart and I will forever be Patience Phillips aka CATWOMAN!" — Halle Berry
In her speech, she made fun of Warner Brothers, thanking them for "putting me in a piece of crap, God-awful movie." She also joked that the movie was exactly what her career needed, saying "I was at the top, and 'Catwoman' just plummeted me to the bottom. Love it!"
In her interview with Entertainment Weekly, she revealed that she does not believe "Catwoman" is a terrible film, but she pretended to think so because she felt like she was being part of the joke. "I lied about it because they were making fun of it! I wanted to be in on the joke," she stated.
"Berry marveled at the fact that they accomplished the project despite the hard work involved, which was not limited to just their own efforts. He stated that they never intended for the project to be criticized, and he was pleased with the outcome, having seen his vision of "Catwoman" come to life. He did not experience any negative emotions about the project."
