Following a heated custody battle, Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner's judge declares their marriage "irretrievably broken."
In September 2023, Sophie Turner, a star from 'Game of Thrones', and Joe Jonas ended their relationship.
A year after their initial split, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner officially ended their marriage.
Jonas, 35, and Turner, 28, reached a spousal support agreement through moderated negotiations, splitting the former couple's assets and custody of their two children.
Gina Beovides, the judge, declared that the marriage was "irretrievably broken," and that the couple's agreement, especially their parenting plan, was in the best interest of the family. The Miami-Dade County judge approved the agreement on Friday.
In 2016, the Jonas Brothers singer and actress first met via Instagram, and they got engaged in 2017 before tying the knot in an impromptu Vegas wedding in 2019.
In September 2023, Jonas filed for divorce in a Florida court, as previously confirmed by Planet Chronicle Digital.
"The couple, who had been married for four years, decided to end their marriage amicably. They wrote a joint statement stating that there were many speculative reasons for their decision, but it was a united one. They hoped that everyone would respect their privacy and their children's privacy."
Following the sudden breakdown of their marriage, Turner sued Jonas in a New York court over the custody of their two children. She claimed to have learned of the divorce filing through the media, as evidenced by court documents obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital. The argument that led to the end of their relationship occurred on Jonas' 34th birthday, while they were on vacation in the Bahamas.
Jonas was accused by Turner of keeping their daughters for several days without their consent. Sasser, Jonas' attorney, admitted that the pop star wouldn't surrender the children's passports or allow them to return to England.
The "Game of Thrones" actress remembered being depicted as a neglectful mother in the media while Jonas was portrayed as a devoted father to their children. She stated to British Vogue that those days were the most difficult for her.
"I was on set for another two weeks, contracted to stay, unable to leave. My kids were in the States and I couldn't get to them because I had to finish 'Joan.' Articles started coming out, which hurt because I struggle with mum guilt. I kept telling myself, "None of this is true. You are a good mum and you've never been a partier.""
In 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, Willa was born to Turner and Jonas, and the actress spent 10 months bonding with her daughter.
Jonas and Turner welcomed their second daughter, Delphine, in 2022.
