Experts claim that Jennifer Lopez's 'lavish lifestyle' poses difficulties in her quest for love and marriage.
Some have compared Lopez, who has been married four times, to the late Elizabeth Taylor, known for her eight marriages.
Despite being one of the world's most successful performers, with millions in album sales and box office receipts, Jennifer Lopez's love life has not quite matched her mega stardom.
"According to Amy Laurent, a professional matchmaker and author, Jennifer Lopez is a powerhouse who leads a life far different from most of us. In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Laurent explained that celebrities, in general, face much greater challenges in finding love due to their unique circumstances. For mega-stars with extravagant lifestyles, the difficulty is even greater."
Recently, Lopez filed for divorce from her fourth husband, Ben Affleck, after two years of marriage. The couple had rekindled their romance 20 years prior to their initial relationship.
A celebrity matchmaker, Alessandra Conti, told Planet Chronicle Digital that while [Lopez] has no trouble finding love, she struggles to sustain long-term relationships, similar to Elizabeth Taylor.
Taylor famously married eight men, including Richard Burton twice, one of her greatest loves.
""Biologically speaking, studies have shown that the hormone spikes that are present in the falling in love stages taper off around year two, and that is when love becomes a verb, and not just a cocktail of hormones and feelings," Conti said."
Ojani Noa, a Cuban waiter, was Lopez's first husband. According to a 2022 interview with The Daily Mail, they first met in 1996 and married the following year in February.
""He revealed that he didn't know who she was, but when their eyes met, he thought she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen," the outlet reported."
In 1997, Selena catapulted Jennifer Lopez to fame with her portrayal in the film.
"We fell in love when she was already famous, but during our marriage, she became a megastar. For years, it was too painful to talk about. I wanted to lie low and live my life. But when I saw she got married to Ben, who is a good guy, the feelings came flooding back."
"Celebrities, in general, are in very unique circumstances so are naturally going to face much greater challenges in finding love." — Amy Laurent, professional matchmaker
Lopez's relationship with work and fame and her personal life consistently presented a recurring issue, as stated by Damona Hoffman, host of "The Dates & Mates Podcast," to Planet Chronicle Digital.
"Jennifer Lopez's drive for the spotlight was evident from the beginning of her career, even when she was in background dancing roles. She worked her way to being featured and eventually achieving leading roles and mega-stardom. Achieving such success requires sacrifice in personal life and an obsession with getting it right, not just good enough."
Her career and love life have been similar in many ways. She has experienced both successes and failures in both areas, but she always fully commits to both her career and relationships. However, this dedication sometimes results in heartbreak.
In 2001, after her relationship with Sean "Diddy" Combs, Jennifer Lopez married her backup dancer, Chris Judd.
In 2000, Judd was featured in Lopez's "Love Don’t Cost A Thing" music video, and, as per Judd, the relationship needed to remain confidential initially.
In the 2001 Oscars, they made a formal appearance as a couple. According to Judd, in an episode of "Oprah: Where Are They Now?", the event was chaotic, with a large number of people and cameras present. Judd stated that he knew she was there to perform her duties, and he was simply there to accompany her.
He later stated in the episode that being with a celebrity was challenging, expressing, "It's not enjoyable; it's invasive."
During her divorce from Judd, Lopez started her first relationship with Affleck.
The relationship that developed between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez on the set of the 2002 film "Gigli" led to the "Bennifer" era in the early 2000s. They also collaborated in the music video for Lopez's song "Jenny From the Block," which parodied the media attention the couple received.
In Lopez's documentary "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," the former couple confess that the media attention led to the breakdown of their first engagement.
"She has had many relationship highs and lows and had as many hits as she has failures, but she always goes all in on her career and relationships…" — Damona Hoffman, Host of The Dates & Mates Podcast
"Lopez revealed in the documentary that he and Ben broke up three days before their wedding. They had planned a grand wedding with 14 ushers and bridesmaids, but the pressure led to their breakup."
In a separate interview, Affleck stated that the reason for his and Aniston's breakup was the intense scrutiny of their private life.
"Ben, despite being a successful celebrity himself, tries to keep his personal life private, which is unrealistic when he is dating another star. As a Hollywood Matchmaker for 12 years, I would advise extreme caution when matching him with another female celebrity, as he values his privacy and this will not be possible if he continues to date in the public eye. Ben is attracted to powerful and charismatic women, but it is important to consider his need for privacy when finding a match."
Lopez and Anthony were together from 2004 to 2014 and share two children, twins Max and Emme.
Lopez was described by Anthony as the hardest worker in a 2021 In Style profile, with him praising her work ethic and stating that she is always the first one to arrive and the last to leave the room.
"While we were together, I found it quite different for me. However, that has changed since. I learned a lot from her. She's the original!" he said.
Lopez's success and assertive personality may cause issues in maintaining a long-term relationship, as she requires a completely secure partner or no partner at all. This is because her success and take-charge personality can lead to feelings of inadequacy in a man who is not fully secure within himself, resulting in resentment and a power imbalance.
JLo requires a man with strong communication skills and is willing to work on her own skills. She emphasized that relationships involve compromise and daily commitment.
After divorcing Anthony, Lopez had an on-again-off-again relationship with dancer Casper Smart.
In 2017, she started dating New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez and became engaged in 2019. However, they had to postpone their wedding twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually ended their relationship in 2021.
The former couple released a joint statement on "Today."
"We have come to the conclusion that we work better as friends and are excited to maintain this relationship. We plan to collaborate and assist each other in our joint businesses and projects. We wish our children all the best and express our gratitude to those who have offered kind words and support. Out of consideration for them, we have no further comment to make."
Lopez and Affleck reunited shortly after their breakup and got married in a surprise Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a more traditional and lavish ceremony in Georgia a month later.
Kevin Smith describes Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's wedding as 'inspiring'.
JLo has a pattern of having on-again-off-again relationships, and breaking love habits is difficult for her. From P-Diddy to Casper Smart and now Ben Affleck, JLo seems to have a hard time letting go of past relationships and trusting new ones.
Despite appearing to be stable 20 years ago, the relationship has recently experienced cracks, which were visible in a documentary that highlighted the public vs. private debate.
After the release of their documentary and album, speculations about their split started circulating.
"JLo needs a totally secure partner or no partner at all because her success and take-charge personality could lead to feelings of inadequacy in a man who is not totally secure within himself." — Alessandra Conti, Celebrity Matchmaker
In June, Affleck made a derogatory comment about Lopez's fame on Hart's Peacock show "Hart to Heart."
"He stated, "I dislike a great deal of attention." As a result, individuals observe him and inquire, "Why is this man always angry?" This occurs because someone has their camera pointed at him, and he responds, "Alright, here we go.""

Laurent stated that despite their apparent incompatibility, he believes that Ben genuinely loves her, but their relationship will not last unless they have long-term compatibility.
A source close to Planet Chronicle Digital revealed that the couple had been residing apart prior to the interview.
"Jennifer is heartbroken after her marriage ended, a source told Planet Chronicle Digital. She had started moving out a while ago."
On Aug. 20, Lopez filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court, marking the two-year anniversary of their Georgia wedding. According to People magazine, Lopez listed April 26 as the date of separation.
Lopez put in all the effort to save her marriage, while Affleck had given up long ago.
Lopez filing first indicates that she is taking charge of ending the marriage.
Jennifer Lopez often surprises people with her actions. She makes headlines by doing the opposite of what is expected of her. Perhaps she does it for the sake of her career or simply to live her life on her own terms, with every move she makes being closely watched and every place she visits being swarmed by paparazzi.
Lopez is still recovering from the divorce, but matchmakers are optimistic about helping him find love again.
Laurent stated that in his professional opinion, she would require someone who is highly skilled and accomplished in their field, as well as self-assured and composed, offering a tranquil stability that enhances her and enables her to excel.
"She doesn't like to change, so her ideal match would be someone who can accept her flamboyant tastes and genuinely love and support her for who she is at her core. I'm not interested in another musical artist or athlete. Instead, I believe she would be more suited with a dominant figure in the business world."
Conti felt similarly, stating that the ideal partner for her would be someone who is capable of being a secure, supportive, and encouraging individual who is comfortable with the spotlight.
She suggested a "Travis Kelce prototype" and emphasized the need for a partner with a strong, masculine energy to complement her. Additionally, Conti agreed that a business mogul would be a suitable match, specifically someone who is highly focused on their business pursuits in areas such as real estate, finance, or technology.
