Expert is the real star of 'Wheel of Fortune,' and host Ryan Seacrest will succeed as long as he remembers this.
In 2023, after 40 years of hosting the popular game show, Pat Sajak retired from 'Wheel of Fortune'.
As the new host of one of America's most beloved game shows, Ryan Seacrest is aware of the immense responsibility he carries.
Southern California radio disc jockey Seacrest, who will host "Wheel of Fortune" starting Monday night for season 42, has honed his ability to keep audiences engaged after years of on-air success.
After earning the "American Idol" hosting gig in 2002, he became a household name and served as Kelly Ripa's co-host on "Live With Kelly and Ryan" for several seasons. Following Pat Sajak's retirement announcement in 2023, he left morning talk shows to pursue his primetime dream.
Seacrest will continue hosting "The Wheel" after Sajak's departure, and Eric Schiffer believes viewers are in good hands with him.
Ryan has a sixth sense of how to adjust his energy to build audience trust, and I believe he can use the techniques mastered on 'Idol' to increase engagement and grow the audience.
"In contrast to "American Idol," which features a lot of interaction, "The Voice" is mostly a passive show. It needs to attract younger audiences."
With time, Seacrest will find his own groove hosting the long-running game show alongside co-host Vanna White, despite the inevitable trials and tribulations.
"Ryan has a sixth sense of how to make adjustments, and the adjustment here is toning down the energy until he builds audience trust." — Eric Schiffer
"Schiffer stated that Ryan's challenge is to establish enough trust early on to allow him to fully utilize his skills to expand the brand and audience without alienating existing fans, which will require trust and comfort on Ryan's part. The focus, according to Schiffer, remains on the game itself."
As long as the game and its players remain the main focus, the game will continue to succeed. I believe Ryan can further develop it.
Schiffer believes that Seacrest could turn audiences away if he brings "too much energy too early" to the nightly game show, despite his experience hosting various sizes of crowds and studio audiences throughout the years, including "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," red carpet coverage at the Emmys and Academy Awards, and multiple stints at the Olympics.
The downfall of Seacrest could be due to his attempt to incorporate too much emotion, storytelling, or high-energy hosting in a setting where people are accustomed to a low-key, comfortable, and predictable Pat Sajack who doesn't try to overshadow the game board.
Schiffer advised, "He has the ability to accomplish this task with some finesse and attention to detail. Although it may be challenging, I believe he can succeed and meet the expectations of the audience. His approach is more relaxed and laid-back, but he possesses the skills to execute it flawlessly. He is a genuine individual."
Ryan Seacrest, the founder and executive producer of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," stated that he wants to host the show for 40 years, like Sajak did. Schiffer joked that Ryan would be able to achieve this if he adopted a "plant-based diet."
"He knows how to do this. It's going to require some finesse and watching the numbers, but it's doable. I think he can pull it off and align with audience expectations." — Eric Schiffer
He stated, "His ambition is impressive, considering he has already integrated his brand into these renowned slots previously owned by Dick Clark and now Pat Sajack. It's a remarkable strategy to achieve his current status and then expand his empire further."
"I believe he has built a consistently growing empire through smart moves, understanding his brand, and finding ways to expand it. This will undoubtedly be another crown jewel."
"It's hard to imagine how he could fail unless he's unable to overcome his own limitations, but this person doesn't have an overinflated ego that would lead to their downfall because they value their personality over the established formula for success - a low-key, comfortable, and predictable show that is controlled solely by the players involved."
"He's really built a consistently growing empire with smart moves and understanding his brand, and finding ways to extend it. I believe this will be another jewel on the crown." — Eric Schiffer
On June 7, Sajak's final episode of "Wheel of Fortune" aired, marking the end of his tenure on the show, which he had announced on June 12, 2023. He will return to the show for his final farewell on October 7.
