Durek Verrett, a California shaman, marries Princess Märtha Louise of Norway in a lavish, 350-person wedding.
On Saturday, King Harald V and Queen Sonja were present at an event involving Princess Märtha Louise.
Durek Verrett and Princess Märtha Louise, the daughter of Norway's King Harald, have tied the knot.
On Saturday, the couple got married at the Hotel Union in Geiranger, Norway, surrounded by 350 guests, including the bride's parents, King Harald V and Queen Sonja, and her brother, Crown Prince Haakon, and his wife, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, as well as her three daughters, Maud, Leah, and Emma, according to a press release obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital.
Hello! magazine was the first to report the news.
"Our love has overcome all obstacles and will endure forever," the bride declared to Hello! magazine. "Love is the fundamental force that unites us all on this earth," Verrett stated. "It surpasses everything."
The release stated that the pre-wedding festivities comprised of a meet-and-greet gathering, a boat voyage along the Geiranger Fjord, and a salsa celebration at Hotel Union.
"Verrett declared to the outlet that he was letting the world know he loved the person he was about to marry in front of family, friends, and God. Sealing their relationship with a spiritual declaration surrounded by loved ones would be wonderful, he said."
In 2022, Princess Märtha Louis announced her departure from the royal house after receiving numerous inquiries about her fiancé's role. The mother of three, who is fourth in line to the Norwegian throne, became engaged to Verrett, an American who identifies as a shaman and a healer, in June 2022.
Following the announcement of their daughter, King Harald and Queen Sonja spoke to the press.
""The queen stated in Hello! magazine that Americans are unfamiliar with what a kingdom is, which explains why [Durek] lacks understanding," according to the magazine."
"She stated that Americans do not comprehend the significance of this matter. They believe they can act freely without affecting us in any way."
The queen stated that Durek is an exceptional individual and that her daughter's choice to withdraw from royal responsibilities aligns with the interests of all parties involved.
"Despite our differences, we are content with our relationship, as I sense that our family has grown closer in a positive manner."
