Chappell Roan criticizes the "abusive" aspect of fame and threatens to leave the music industry if it becomes too "dangerous."
A photographer was yelled at by a breakout pop star on the MTV VMAs red carpet.
Chappell Roan may call it quits with the music industry.
If the singer's accusations of stalking and harassment by fans become too dangerous, she may leave the spotlight.
Roan stated in a cover interview with The Face that fame has a toxic aura, characterized by stalking, spreading rumors online, and persistent harassment, which is reminiscent of an abusive ex-husband.
"I didn't realize it would feel this badly. That's how it seems."
If she ever felt her life was in danger, she would quit the music industry.
"Roan stated, "If this becomes hazardous, I may withdraw," he added. "It's perilous now, yet I persist. However, that wasn't what I enlisted for.""

At the airport, a 26-year-old woman described a distressing experience with two male fans who allegedly harassed her.
Roan explained, "I exit the car at 5:30 AM and see two men holding posters and other items for me to sign."
I knew they weren't fans, so I said no. I was like, 'I don't sign anything at the airport, I'm sorry.' One of them followed me to the TSA line and started yelling at me, and everyone just turned and looked. He was like, 'You should really humble yourself. Do you know where you are right now? Don't forget where you came from.' I was like, 'What the f--- is going on?'
After yelling at a photographer on the MTV VMAs red carpet last week, Roan had an incident at the airport.
Last Wednesday night, a heated exchange occurred between the "Hot to Go!" singer and a photographer on the red carpet, with the photographer shouting, "Shut the f--- up."
After the photographer made a crass comment, she turned around, pointed her finger at him, and said, "Shut up."

Roan exclaimed, "Don't! Not me, b----!" A voice in the background cheered her on, saying, "Tell 'em, girl!"
The singer of "Pink Pony Club" later revealed the details of the intense confrontation.
"Roan told Entertainment Tonight that the situation was both overwhelming and scary. He explained that, as someone who experiences a lot of anxiety when people shout at him, the carpet was particularly terrifying. As a result, Roan yelled back, stating that he didn't appreciate being shouted at in that manner."
She accused some fans of stalking, harassment, and "predatory behavior" in scathing social media posts last month.
""Women do not owe you anything, and I chose this career because I love music and art, not to be harassed," she wrote on Instagram."
Roan addressed fans after she received "nonconsensual physical and social interactions."
The singer emphasized that "predatory behavior" is often disguised as "superfan" behavior in her statement.
"Please cease touching me. Please refrain from behaving strangely towards my loved ones and acquaintances. Please desist from making assumptions about me," she implored.
""I feel the most unsafe I have ever felt in my life, but I also feel more love than I ever have in my life. Please don't call me Kayleigh, as that is my legal first name. I am scared and tired, and there is always more to the story," she added."
