Bruce Springsteen denies farewell tour rumors despite health struggles.
Washington, DC is the next tour stop for Bruce Springsteen.
Bruce Springsteen, who turns 75 in September, has canceled several concerts recently, leading to speculation about how much he has left in the tank.
Last week, Springsteen tackled rumors about himself while performing two make-up shows in Philadelphia, which were originally scheduled for last summer. Despite suffering a painful and debilitating peptic ulcer, the rocker made a comeback on stage in March.
"We've been around 50 years and we're not stopping," he declared in a video posted on social media. "No farewell tour for the E Street Band! We're not going anywhere!"
"No way! Say goodbye to thousands of people cheering your name? Absolutely, I'm ready to leave," he said sarcastically, causing fans to shout "Bruce" throughout the venue.
Before declaring, "That's it. That's all it takes. I ain’t going anywhere!", Springsteen absorbed the resonance of his name for a brief instant.
Springsteen has been dealing with health issues since last summer when he had to postpone his performances due to a peptic ulcer that made singing too painful.
"Hell no! Farewell to what? Thousands of people screaming your name? Yeah, I want to quit that." — Bruce Springsteen
In May, the "Born in the U.S.A" singer was forced to reschedule all concerts within a 10-day period due to medical advice.
Bruce will not perform for the next ten days due to vocal issues, as determined by further examination and consulting with doctors.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, additional postponements are necessary for the Airport Letnany show in Prague (originally scheduled for May 28) and the San Siro Stadium show in Milan (originally scheduled for June 1 and 3). New dates for these shows will be announced shortly. Refunds will be available at the original point of purchase. Bruce is currently recovering comfortably and is excited to resume his hugely successful European stadium tour with the E Street Band on June 12 in Madrid at the magnificent Civitas Metropolitan."
Springsteen is currently on his first major tour in six years.
His upcoming performance on Sept. 7 is at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
