Angel Salazar, the actor known for his role in 'Scarface,' has passed away at the age of 68.
As a stand-up comedian, the Cuban-born actor also showcased his comedic talents.
Angel Salazar, who gained fame for his part in the 1983 movie "Scarface," has passed away at the age of 68.
Roger Paul, Salazar's representative, confirmed to Planet Chronicle Digital that the actor passed away on Sunday morning.
A cause of death was not disclosed.
In "Scarface," Chi Chi, the main sidekick to Tony Montana, was portrayed by Salazar, who co-starred alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and was directed by Oliver Stone.
Salazar, born in Cuba, got his first film credit with the 1979 neo-noir film "Boulevard Nights." He later appeared in films such as "Where the Buffalo Roam" and "Punchline" with Tom Hanks. He later reunited with Pacino for "Carlito's Way."
Salazar is a multifaceted entertainer with over 50 acting credits, a stand-up comedy career, and notable appearances on "Showtime at the Apollo" in 1992 and the 2006 documentary "The Latin Legends of Comedy."
In 2019, he stated to Mass Live that performing on stage was a distinctive experience.
"Salazar stated to the outlet that while he enjoys acting for financial reasons, there is a unique charm to performing in front of a small crowd. It creates an intimate and memorable experience."
He acknowledged that he was still frequently recognized for his part in "Scarface."

Eric Spade Rivas' "The Brooklyn Premiere," currently in production, features Salazar reprising his role as Chi Chi and Steven Bauer as another "Scarface" co-star.
