'Ana de Armas, who stars in 'No Time to Die,' left LA for her home 'off the grid.''
Marilyn Monroe's portrayal in 'Blonde' earns actress her 1st Academy Award nomination.
Ana de Armas is discussing her choice to depart from Hollywood for a more straightforward existence.
At the Toronto International Film Festival's premiere of her new film "Eden," de Armas revealed why she left Los Angeles, stating that she wanted to escape the chaos of the world.
""I've decided to create my own safe space where I can collect myself and only bring the people I want to be with. I found a home where I feel off the grid and have created my own little cocoon there," she said."
The Academy Award-nominated actress has reportedly moved to a $7 million, six-bedroom and eight-bathroom house with views of mountains, meadows and forests.
Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, who starred together in "Knives Out," began dating after meeting on set in 2019. Their relationship ended in January 2021.
She described feeling the need to change something in her life, although it is unclear if that contributed to her decision to move.
"We all want to have the chance to build your own safe space. I’ve made that decision myself. I found a home where I really feel off the grid," she explained. "I can collect myself and only bring there who I want to be with. I have my little cocoon there." — Ana de Armas
"When it's time to change, you just feel it," she said. "It's important to look out for yourself and learn what's good for you. What serves you the most? Pay attention to that and take action."
In 2019, De Armas got her big break by starring in "Knives Out" alongside notable actors like Christopher Plummer, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
De Armas starred in "Blonde," a Netflix movie that focused on the rise and fall of Marilyn Monroe, after appearing in a few more films, including "No Time to Die," where she reunited with Craig.
The actress received her first Academy Award nomination for her role in the movie, which was critically acclaimed but not well-received by audiences. Despite the negative reviews, De Armas said in March 2023 that she was grateful for the opportunity to work on the project and looked back on what attracted her to it.
""The director and other actors are available to discuss the film, but the director stated that the movie was not made to please people or make them like it. It is a challenging film to watch," she said to the outlet."
Despite leaving Los Angeles, she stated in March 2023 that she would always maintain a bond with the city because of her work on "Blonde."
"We encountered her presence everywhere we went, and she was always there. Everyone has a story about her, and her spiritual energy was felt by all. This definitely helped with the commitment and love for the process of making the movie."
