'John Aprea, who starred in 'Another World,' passed away in Los Angeles due to 'natural causes.''
Earlier this month, Salvatore "Sal" Tessio, famously portrayed by John Aprea in "The Godfather Part II," passed away at the age of 83.
On Monday, Aug. 5 in Los Angeles, Aprea passed away from natural causes, surrounded by his loved ones, as confirmed by his manager Will Levine to Planet Chronicle Digital.
"The death of Mr. Aprea has left me deeply saddened," Levine said to Planet Chronicle Digital. "He was a gifted actor and highly respected by his peers. A true gentleman."
In 1941, Aprea, an Italian immigrant, was born in Englewood, New Jersey, and got his first break in the industry in the 1968 Steve McQueen classic, "Bullitt," a San Francisco cop drama.
Aprea, when cast for the role of young Tessio in "The Godfather Part II," reportedly phoned Abe Vigoda, who played the older version of the role in Part I, to seek character insight.
Aprea was told by Vigoda, "I'm not sure what I did. Just enjoy yourself, kid."
In addition to soap opera dramas, Aprea also starred in several crime sagas.
For decades, he portrayed both Alexander Nikos and Lucas Castigliano on the enduring daytime drama, "Another World."
Aside from his role as a tough guy, Aprea portrayed John Stamos' father on the popular family sitcom "Full House."
He reprised his role in the Netflix reboot of "Fuller House" years later.
Betsy Graci, Nicole Aprea, Marika Parker, and Valentino Graci are the survivors of Aprea.
