The LPGA Tour responds to Caitlin Clark's message three years after ghosting the WNBA star on social media.
In 2021, despite being the WNBA Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark went unnoticed.
On Wednesday, the Indiana Fever star made her LPGA Tour debut at a pro-am event at Pelican Golf Club in Florida. It was disclosed that in 2021, Clark had messaged the tour on social media but was apparently ignored.
A representative from the LPGA Tour presented Clark with a surprise gift in a video shared to X.
"We have a surprise. We didn't ignore your DM; we just didn't see it. We went to message you and found this."
Years ago, Clark sent a message asking the tour to send her a sweatshirt, which was later revealed in a video.
"Would you be able to connect me with the greatest sweatshirt ever created? I am a huge admirer," the message stated.
"What year did you send it?" Clark replied, chuckling.
After a long wait, Clark received her tour merchandise and was given the opportunity to play alongside two of the sport's top players.
Nelly Korda, the world's No. 1 player in women's golf, played nine holes with Clark and finished her round partnered with Annika Sorenstam, ahead of her namesake tournament in Belleair.
The 22-year-old golf phenom drew fans in, similar to her performance in the WNBA.
Seeing firsthand the amazing influence she has on people through her ability to bring them out here was really cool, Korda said.
