Imane Khleif threatens lawsuit over report, accuses world leaders of spreading false information.
During the Olympics, Khelif found himself at the center of a gender controversy.
A French journalist is facing a lawsuit from Olympic gold medalist Imane Khelif over a report that claimed the boxer had testicles.
On Thursday, Khelif was a guest on Italy's "Lo Stato delle Cose" and discussed the report.
The Algerian athlete stated via NDTV that they will meet with the French journalist in court.
The French-Algerian medical report, as cited in Le Correspondent, stated that Khelif suffered from a sex development disorder exclusive to biological males. The report emphasized the importance of a thorough medical examination to accurately determine one's gender at birth.
Since the report's release, Khelif has not made any comments about it. Planet Chronicle Digital contacted Khelif's lawyers but did not receive a response.
The IOC acknowledged that Khelif was planning to file a lawsuit against the journalist, as reported by Planet Chronicle Digital.
"The IOC has stated that it will not comment on the legal action taken by Imane Khelif against individuals who commented on her situation during the Olympic Games Paris 2024, or on any media reports about unverified documents whose origin cannot be confirmed."
The International Boxing Association President Umar Kremlev also responded to the report.
The International Olympic Committee has violated all sports rules by putting a man against a woman, as confirmed by tests. Kremlev, the President of the International Boxing Association, demands an apology from Thomas Bach and his team for this breach of gender equality and protection of both men and women in boxing.
"Thomas Bach, who personally lobbied for men to compete against women in boxing, bears direct responsibility for this. On behalf of all boxers in the world, I demand them to kneel and apologize to the boxing community and to those girls who have been beaten and abused. I am now waiting, as is everyone in IBA, for your official apology, Thomas Bach."
Khelif faced controversy during the Paris Olympics due to a failed gender test that resulted in disqualification at the International Boxing Association World Championships. The Algerian Olympic Committee stated that Khelif was disqualified for "medical reasons."
The accusations that Khelif was a man competing in the women's boxing division at the Olympics cast a shadow over the event, but Khelif denied all allegations regarding gender.
President-elect Donald Trump and Italian Giorgi Meloni both remarked about the Khelif controversy.
Khelif, via The Telegraph, stated that it is strange that many politicians and presidents make statements without a source, which lacks a basis and reality.
J. K. Rowling is among the individuals that Khelif has sued for referring to him as a man.
