Report: Florida basketball coach under investigation for sexual harassment and stalking of students.
Women accused Golden of sending private photos.
An unknown number of women have accused head men's basketball coach Todd Golden of sexual harassment and stalking them, resulting in a Title IX complaint being filed against the University of Florida.
On Sept. 27, the university's student newspaper reported that the school had received a complaint regarding alleged incidents targeting students.
It is claimed that Golden pursued students on foot and in his car, and also sent explicit messages, photos, and videos of his genitals, requesting sexual favors.
"At first, it started off slow, with one woman saying, 'Wow, he's showing us attention.' But then it became, 'Wait, he's crossing a line.' Then it was, 'No, he didn't mean it that way.' And finally, it was, 'Wow, there's a picture of his d--k.' It was a full grooming process with all of us."
"The woman remarked, "He would go to great lengths about it. He would revisit old photos, like a year ago, all at once. Then, of course, he followed up with a direct message, always in vanish mode. . . . To put it bluntly, he was aggressively stalking me on Instagram.""
"Another woman stated that he used the same manipulation tactic on everyone and sent us all the same s--t, which was a copy-paste approach to every girl."
The university spokesperson stated that the school is unable to provide any information regarding Title IX inquiries, complaints, or investigations due to compliance with federal law.
Both women who spoke to the paper claim that members of the university were aware of Golden's behavior and complicit, while also stating that there is a culture of sexual harassment within the coaching staff.
"One of the alleged victims stated, "I believe it is a sick joke that all the coaches in the organization are participating in. They likely derive pleasure from sharing the images. There is something seriously wrong happening there.""
Florida, ranked 21st in the AP polls, has won each of their first two games of the season. Golden, who coached San Francisco for three seasons, joined the Gators in 2022.
Last season, the Gators were defeated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by Colorado.
