Jason Kelce and a fan are being investigated by Penn State police following a homophobic slur.
A critic accused Travis Kelce of being a "fool" for dating Taylor Swift.
A spokesperson for Penn State police confirmed that they are currently investigating the incident involving Jason Kelce, who allegedly smashed a fan's phone prior to the Nittany Lions' game against Ohio State on Saturday.
As Kelce entered the stadium, a fan inquired about how it felt that his brother, Travis, was dating Taylor Swift.
The fan's phone was snatched by Kelce and spiked into the street.
Kelce repeatedly said "Who's the f----t now" after approaching the fan.
On Saturday, the police department's incident log recorded an entry stating that an officer witnessed a visitor causing harm to personal property.
On Tuesday, PSU public information officer Jacqueline Sheader confirmed to The Associated Press that the incident involving Kelce is ongoing and the potential offenses listed in the report are criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
On Monday, during his ESPN appearance before "Monday Night Football," Kelce appeared to express regret for his actions. The game featured the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a Super Bowl LV rematch.
Kelce started by saying, "I'm not happy with anything that happened this week, and I'm not proud of it. In a heated moment, I reacted with hate, which I now realize is not productive. It doesn't lead to discourse and is not the right way to go about things. That moment was a mistake."
"I strive to live my life by the golden rule, which involves treating people with common decency and respect. Despite falling short this week, I will continue to do so in the future."
Although Kelce's actions were criticized, many on social media defended him. They, however, focused on the issue with the Penn State fan's comment rather than the phone being destroyed.
Jason Kelce has been emotional in the past when defending his brother, including those who criticized the Chiefs tight end for his slow start to the season. On Monday, he had a career-high 14 catches for 100 yards.
