Dakota Joshua of the Canucks discloses his testicular cancer diagnosis and advises men to undergo regular check-ups.
The tumor was successfully removed by Joshua, who is 28 years old.
Due to a successful surgery to remove a tumor, Vancouver Canucks forward Dakota Joshua is currently out indefinitely after being diagnosed with testicular cancer this summer.
The team's social media announced that Joshua, who is 28 years old, made the announcement.
I discovered a lump on my testicle during the summer, which was later diagnosed as cancer. Although it was terrifying to hear the news, doctors were able to successfully remove the tumor.
"Despite the recent challenges, I have been fortunate to have the support of my loved ones, teammates, and doctors. However, I will not be ready for the start of training camp as I continue to recover from surgery. My goal is to return to play as soon as possible this season, and I am working diligently every day to rejoin my teammates."
Despite the challenge of confronting this particular type of cancer, promptly seeing a doctor was the most effective course of action, and he advised men to undergo regular check-ups for testicular cancer.
In his second season with the Canucks, Joshua achieved a career-high of 18 goals and 14 assists in 63 games. Additionally, he scored four goals and four assists during the Canucks' playoff run, which ended in the second round against the Edmonton Oilers.
In June, Joshua signed a four-year, $13 million extension following a successful season.
