Will Levis, a Titans player, changes his cell phone number after it was leaked during a turbulent start: "I received many messages."
This season, Levis has been plagued by costly turnovers and a lack of ball security.
Despite his efforts to quiet the criticism, Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis faces a difficult task when his harshest critics have direct access to him.
On Wednesday, Levis announced that he would be changing his cell phone number following a leak to the public.
""Today, I'm getting a new phone number. I'm not sure how my number became public, but I received many texts. It will be nice to put this matter behind me," he stated via Main Street Nashville."
One can imagine the context of the messages Levis received during his second season in the NFL, given that it has not been a great start.
In the Titans' first two games, he made five turnovers and was involved in two costly fumbles, including the one that occurred this past weekend and was caught on camera, causing first-year coach Brian Callahan to shout a profanity at Levis.
The other fumble resulted in a pick-6 for the Chicago Bears.
Levis stated on Wednesday that he has been abstaining from social media entirely.
"I believe that's the healthiest approach. I don't want to or care to listen to what others say about me, and I'll continue to move forward regardless of their opinions. It's unfortunate that the world is the way it is, and I'm excited to have some privacy."
On Wednesday, Callahan spoke to reporters and stated that Levis has shown improvement from Week 1 to Week 2. However, he emphasized the need for quick action to address their issues.
"The NFL is known for its rapid improvement during the early season, and this is especially true for teams that excel in certain areas. The player's performance was impressive, and it remained so after reviewing the tape."
