Bengals legend dampens team's winning streak: "Let's face tough opponents"
From 2001 to 2008, Cincy was home to TJ Houshmandzadeh.
Despite the Bengals offense appearing to be in sync, the team continues to struggle with securing victories.
On Sunday, the team won against the Las Vegas Raiders, 41-24, but lost to the Philadelphia Eagles the week before and barely managed to defeat the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants.
Their recent three wins were against teams with a combined record of six victories.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, a former Bengals star, is not ready to celebrate yet.
The ex-Bengal stated in a recent interview with Planet Chronicle Digital that he is unsure if it is exciting that the team will not be participating in the playoffs.
The Bengals will face their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, on Thursday. Although they lost to them earlier in the season, 41-38, Houshmandzadeh will be fully focused if the Bengals can win the season series.
"If we defeat the Ravens on Friday, the excitement will be genuine. The biggest key, according to Houshmandzadeh, is to beat the better teams. To me, that means beating teams that people don't expect you to beat. We've dug ourselves a hole, and now we need to get out of it. The Ravens are one of the teams we need to beat to get out of the hole. The excitement won't be there until we start beating good teams."
The fans have been excited, though.
Houshmandzadeh attended a Bengals tailgate with Tide and consumed Skyline Chili without any consequences.
You'll definitely consume, dine, and play games. I accidentally spilled Skyline Chili on my sweater, and I was dismayed. However, I thought to myself, "Tide will clean this stain better than ever." As a result, I was content with the situation. I knew that Tide could handle the most challenging stains, so I was at ease.
"I had a great time with the fans during the game. It was my first time doing it, and I found it enjoyable. Cincinnati's game day is unmatched, and I'm not just saying that because I'm biased. I had a blast, and I can't wait to do it again."
The Bengals will win on the road, according to Houshmandzadeh.
"I am confident, but I'm not sure if I'm speaking from my heart or my head," he said. "If you're leading 10 with less than four minutes remaining, you need to win that game. … If they can improve their offense and defense just a little bit, we'll definitely win."
