Tulsi Gabbard defends Trump campaign, claims camera at Arlington was 'authorized'
Before the event, the Army warned Trump's campaign.
Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democrat congresswoman, defended former President Trump's appearance at Arlington National Cemetery against recent criticism.
Gabbard, who was present at the ceremony with Trump, stated that she did not observe the reported confrontation between campaign staff and a cemetery official at the event. The Army issued a statement last week, stating that a cemetery official had been "pushed aside" while attempting to implement a photography ban.
During her appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," Gabbard stated that she was informed that the Trump campaign had obtained permission to bring a camera for the event.
According to Gabbard, she inquired with the campaign about this matter and learned that they had interactions with Arlington Cemetery officials. The campaign was granted permission to bring a camera to the event to record this significant and unforgettable day in American history.
Will the campaign release the communication you're referring to? Bash inquired.
Gabbard responded, stating that he believed they had already agreed to bring a camera, and based on his knowledge of public Army statements, the matter was closed.
Last week, the Army stated that the Trump campaign had received a warning about the prohibition of photography at the event.
The Army stated that participants in the August 26th ceremony and the subsequent Section 60 visit were informed of federal laws, Army regulations, and DoD policies that strictly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds. An ANC employee who tried to enforce these rules was suddenly pushed aside.
The employee acted professionally and avoided further disruption, in accordance with the decorum expected at ANC. The incident was reported to the JBM-HH police department, but the employee decided not to press charges. As a result, the Army has closed the matter.
Planet Chronicle Digital did not receive an immediate response from Trump's campaign.
