The Harris team was unaware that stolen Trump documents were sent "directly" to the Biden camp.
Individuals were targeted in the campaign, acknowledged the campaign.
The Biden campaign denied any direct involvement in the theft of Trump campaign materials by Iranian actors, stating that only some individuals associated with the campaign received emails containing stolen materials on their personal accounts.
Since becoming aware that individuals associated with the Biden campaign were among the intended victims of a foreign influence operation, the Harris-Walz campaign has worked with law enforcement authorities.
"Finkelstein stated that the campaign was not aware of any direct mail being sent, but a few individuals received what appeared to be a spam or phishing attempt via email. He strongly condemned any foreign interference in U.S. elections, including this malicious activity."
On Wednesday, the ODNI, FBI, and CISA issued a joint statement revealing that Iranian cyber actors had sent unsolicited emails to individuals associated with President Biden's campaign in late June and early July. The emails contained an excerpt from stolen, non-public material from former President Trump's campaign as text.
"No response from recipients has been received, and Iranian cyber actors have persisted in their attempts to disseminate confidential information related to former President Trump's campaign to US media outlets since June."
The latest example of Iran's approach to stoke discord and undermine confidence in our electoral process is through "malicious cyber activity," as stated by the agencies.
"The FBI has been tracking the activity of threat actors responsible for increasing election influence activities by foreign actors, including Russia, Iran, and China, as we approach November. The FBI has been in contact with the victims and will continue to investigate and gather information to pursue and disrupt the threat actors."
Trump's campaign spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, stated that the development serves as additional evidence that the Iranians are actively meddling in the election to support Kamala Harris and Joe Biden because they understand that President Trump will reinstate his strict sanctions and confront their tyranny.
"Did Kamala and Biden use the hacked material provided by the Iranians to harm President Trump, and if so, what did they know and when did they know it?" she stated.
A Harris campaign official informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the material was not utilized.
In recent months, federal authorities have thwarted Iranian assassination plots against U.S. politicians, including President Trump, President Biden, and former Secretary of State Nikki Haley. A Pakistani man with deep ties to Iran was arraigned in Brooklyn federal court this week for allegedly paying undercover agents he believed were hitmen to carry out the assassinations this summer.
In two months, Trump has faced two assassination attempts, one at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and another while golfing at his course in West Palm Beach, Florida. Despite authorities' investigations, no link to Iran has been publicly established.
